AdamZagoria Adam Zagoria 'That's a 5 seed' LIU coach Jim Ferry after his team lost 100-84 to Iona
AdamZagoria Adam Zagoria If this @icgaels team makes the Big Dance, they could win a few games and cause some headaches. Nobody wants to defend this outfit.

Impressive win. Could have been 30-35. Now announcers on ESPN are using Scott as a point of comparison. Comparing the Xavier point guard just now on ESPN announcer said -" I don't care who you are talking about, Scott Machado on Iona, Kendall Marshall at North Carolina, this guy is right there with them! ;D

Large margin for a what seemed to be a sloppy game. Mike had a great game. There is a pretty good drop off when the first 6-7 guys leave the field. Jermel is the best 6th man in the universe. When he's hot the shots just drop. Randy plays hard. Momo is extremely quick.
On the negative side I thought Sean had a lack of energy. I think he needs to be more aggressive. I'm not overly enthusiastic about James. Althetic but I don't quite see the touch. I wish Fields got more minutes somehow but hard to see who would sit.
That is all. The Authority

First time I've seen the guys get sloppy on offense, and it was when we were up by 33. Lost a little discipline, I thought, and started taking some bad shots. Up to now we've been playing at break-neck speed, but pretty much under control. It's been impressive. Could've won this game by 50 if they stayed under control.

Iona is probably the best offensive team in the country. They are as good of an offensive team as you will ever see at the mid major level. They just need to not fall asleep for periods as they did tonight.

Once the defense stiffens and Momo incorporates himself more into the flow, this team will be nearly unstoppable.
There was plenty of room for improvement in tonights performance and I don't think LIU played all that badly.

Iona's RPI drops 8 spots with the win.
For those of you complaining about our road trip, THIS is why it's occurring--you can't play NEC or AE schools at home and have a top 50 RPI. Gotta hit the road against good mids.

Gotta hit the road against good mids. Can't completely agree with that one. LIU was a top 100 rpi team last year and had most of their top players returning. On paper this was a solid team to schedule. Their slow start is the reason for the rpi hit. I expect them to improve and hopefully that'll lessen the affect on us. As for other NEC and AE teams, I'd say Iona would be safe playing the upper tier teams from those conferences. Teams like Robert Morris, Wagner, Vermont and BU are pretty much on par with most of the upper half of the MAAC.

The Authority That is another huge difference with this team. If one guard is off or tired, there are TONS of guys to replace him. There are shooters, passers, everything! The depth is unprecedented for this team. There really isn't much to complain about: Coaching- A+ Offense- A+ Defense- B and moving up. Unreal Depth at the guard position!

Realize I'm in the minority on this one, but when you expect to have a great team, you take your show on the road for all those RPI pops. When you stink, yes, host the FDUs of the world to get wins and confidence.

We need to work on boxing out and not giving teams 2nd chances. Also communicate a lil better when fighting each other for rebounds

Also, what are we talking about here - 2 games @denver and @marshall. Correct me if I am wrong but Richmond, Vermont and Hofstra are return games from a home and home series last year and Will and Mary is a reutrn game from a Bracket Buster a few years ago.

Also, let's not forget that we HOST a BracketBuster game, which is HUGE. Right now, we figure to be one of the top home teams. From what I can gather, here are the best teams slated to play on the road: Long Beach State, Drexel, ODU, Wichita State, Akron, St Mary's, Indiana State. Of course, a lot can change. The three teams ahead of us in the mid-major poll--Gonzaga, Creighton and Harvard--are not possible opponents; Gonzaga and Harvard aren't in it and Creighton is slated to be at home.
