Hey Guys, Missed the game. Glover with only 3 shots? 3 rebounds? in 33 minutes?
Must have been a weird game with them having 19 turnovers to our 8.

28 more games to go Iona shouldn't lose (24 reg season +3 Maac touney + 1 NCAA). Will be tough to get though these feeling this way, but it is the truth. I will accept 3 losses in those 28 but not the the 27th or 28th!

Canisius did a good job of really slowing down the tempo, aided by the fact that we didn't shoot well from 3 and they pulled shot shots out of their you know what late in the shot clock. Lot of fits and starts to the game, stoppages, we never really got into the flow we like. Still won by 12 on the road.

They played a 2-3 and packed it in pretty tight since we weren't hitting 3's. Limited Glove's touches. Hard to explain, but there was no flow to the game. It seemed whenever we got going, something would happen, a ref time out, coach time out, or we'd get a RB and fell over ourselves trying to get a break going. They were very deliberate bringing the ball up and using a lot of the shot clock, and we let them. We didn't press much until late in the second half. Basically, they only played 5 guys and we just wore them out.

Also want to say that on a night where we just struggled to hit 3's, we didn't stop taking them. And I love that. We had a lot of good looks that just didn't fall. Gonna happen some nights, as we all know.

Its nice to win a game when you don't play well.
I have been an Iona fan for a long time and I know years like this don't happen too often. I hate to admit it but I am not going to be happy without a Maac championship and an NCAA win. Really I want two NCAA wins but I'll take one.
Tonight was just one of 35 steps to that goal.

MoMo has brass fucking balls and plays fearless. I loved when he was banging with a larger player on the inbounds play. I hope MoMo wears off on Armand. Sean holds back the shot and needs to fire a few up there.... when he gets hot he will kill.
Taj shot well and he is developing into the midrange threat that this team needs.
The game was a sloppy, choppy mess but we got the win and some of our bench stepped up and filled in when the usual stars were a bit off. That is the sign of a winner guys....

As has been pointed out, the game was won when Canisius ran out of gas. In fact they pnly had six baskets in the entire second half, and two of them came very late in the game. Of the other four, three were three pointers (one behind the invisible NBA line), that went down just before the 35 second clock expired. With their three guards playing 40 minutes, Ra'Shad James came off the bench, played 15 minutes, grabbed six rebounds, including three offensive, and imo turned the game around. In the MAAC, I would think that most opponents will play us with a packed in zone (especially on the road), and our ability to hit from deep will probably determine our success. JMO.

Momo played pretty well tonight. He's very important in games like this, when the 3s aren't falling, the zone defense is collapsing on Glover, and Machado has limited room to penetrate. Momo penetrates faster than Machado can. But Iona should have mixed in Armand tonight, too. A night like tonight, you try some other guards (as they did with James). Perhaps Armand is sharp like Jenkins was in the first half and Iona wins by 20 instead of 12. Still, good to get a grind-it-out win like this. Humbles them. Niagara played Fairfield tough too. Gaels need to be ready to go. There are so many options that when Jenkins was hot at the start, Cluess had to get him the minutes. Some nights it will be Armand, some nights Jenkins, some nights James. It looks like Scott, Momo and Kyle are the three that Cluess has the most trust in right now and the others minutes will depend on how they play coming off the bench.

Well done.
Regardless of the teams strength, conference road wins aren't always pretty and some of the most difficult to get.
Good job by the Gaels.

Scott had a poor shooting game. We would have won by plus 20 otherwise.
Seems Niagara has a hot shooting frosh. I expect us to quiet him down and win by double digits.

I thought Momo had a fine game for Iona last night, what I thought he did best was convey to his team and Canisius; that though your are playing us tight tonight you're not winning this game!
