Couple thoughts: 1) Is Smyth's shoulder hurting? Why isn't he shooting. He's too good a shooter not to be shooting. 2) I think we saw a bit of the Rashad James people were talking about. 3) If Armand is feeling it. Let him shoot. That's three thoughts. GC, IC59 feeding you material? T.A.

Nice win by the Gaels today. The Spiders do not lose often at home.
Go Gaels!!!

Have to be happy with 2-1 in these 3 games. This win will put us in a good position to discuss seeds an at larges all year long. 16 RPI is probably as high as Iona's schedule will allow it to go. I do think Iona can avoid falling too far and can finish in top 30. That and a Sagarin rating of top 30, which is very possible, will give Iona a great chance at an at large. Need 1 more quality win(bracket buster) and only lose 2 or 3 the rest of the way, that will be very tough.
Of course I hope Gaels win Maac tourney but I would love a fall back going into Maac tourney. Not making the NCAA's this year would be an extremely difficult pill to swallow.
If Iona makes it their seed will be very interesting. I can see anything from a 5 to a 13, most likely 9 or 10. Best position to advance to sweet sixteen I think is probably 11. Most importantly Iona needs to avoid a draw with a long athletic team with a good point guard like Marshall. Fortunately I don't think there are too many teams like that out there.
Back to one game at a time, just 3 days to at Vermont, a game that scares me. If Armand can play like today Iona is going to be very, very tough to beat.

Are you commenting because he got all the way to three, or because he had more than a couple?

Yes the Richmond board is very complimentary. They seem like a good bunch of people there, I visited their site often last year during their tournament run; their good loyal fans!

Seem like a very knowledgeable and reasonable group of fans on that board. I really do wish the Spiders the best of luck the rest of the way. They had some moments yesterday where they really scared me. 10 mins in one guy had a career high and I got a sinking feeling that the guy was going to blow up huge. Great job Gaels, now let's get the next one.

Great job Gaels, now let's get the next one. Two things scared me about yesterday's game. 1. Richmond was hitting some crazy threes including a couple from beyond the NBA three-point line. 2. That spider on the court kind of creeped me out. I kept expecting it swallow Macadho up when he dribbled by it ;D

Are you commenting because he got all the way to three, or because he had more than a couple? It's like the old NBA and their three-to-make-two free throw rule

This was a very good match-up for the Gaels; from a pure athletic standpoint we were the far more superior team. The final score was not indicative of the way we dominated in the 2nd half.
Great to see Sean just get in there and shoot the ball. He is too good a pure shooter to be tentative. Hopefully this game gives him confidence going forward. For this to be a special team Sean really needs to step up. James was all over the place. What an athlete. Some of the those dunks were ridiculous.
To go 2-1 vs. Denver, Marshall and Richmond is extremely impressive. Of the next three games only Vermont scares me a bit but I think we walk away with a Win. William and Mary looks to be having a down year and Hofstra is rebuilding, plus they are dealing with some injuries and suspensions. I just hope the guys keep up the intensity cause anything more than 2-3 hiccups would be disappointing - outside of Fairfield and Loyola none of the other teams make me nervous.
Agree with Joebird, this is likely as high as the RPI will get but it should stay top 30 the rest of the way. I think come March we will be looking at anything from a 8 to 11 seed. Depending on the matchups, this team can win a few games.
One game at a time…
