Two things: 1. CJB, nice recap. And while I'm not sure I believe that Dajuan Williams is out of the picture. 2. Super, reference Mike Ice. A few years back when Jeff Ruland was coach, Tony Iati asked me if I had a copy of the Iona-LIU game when Mike Ice was playing. It seemed that he scored 29 points in that game, and that was (or might have been) his only double figure scoring game at Iona. I have dozens of tapes but couldn't find it. It might have been incorrectly labelled and I didn't have the time/energy to go through them. As an aside on Mike, according to either JV or Pat Kennedy, Mike had a role (as an extra) in a Woody Allen movie. Mike has gone on to have a successful business career, and is a former member of the Rye Board of Education, which I learned about when visiting my grandaughter's school, which had a plaque in the lobby listing the School Board members when the "wing" was built.

Dajuan did not qualify from what I understand. Here is some video of the Pope of Harlem in action:

Good things come to those who wait! This staff excels with the late signings, so as far as I'm concerned the more ships available the better.

Pope is out.... late last night he wrote the following comments on his twitter account:
"Just to let the people know that been asking me I will not play for Iona College next year as of now just did not workout as expected."
"Wish them the best, I will leave it at that hopefully I don't ever have to clear the situation up"
Rumor is he is done with playing college and is looking to go overseas to play. This is all happened very quickly. It is a shame... I was really looking forward to this guy playing with MoMo....

Between injury and academics, it was always less than 50-50 that he would ever suit up in New Ro. I wish him all the best. It's clear to me that one of our three scholarships should be used on a PG.

I would still try and get another PG - ideally a freshman as Gomez and Momo will be upperclassmen.

Have to say Pope looks better than I expected. All his interviews included one word "pro".
"Clear the situation up".... what like paying tuition? lol

Lets sign an athlete who want to be a student. Sounds fair to me.

Snoop can pass but has a tendency to throw the ball away. It is not because of his skills but because his teammates are not always ready for some of his tricks. If he had Cluess work with him to control his play this kid could have put up huge numbers like Scott and the kid can shoot the three as well. I don't know if he would have made the NBA because of his knee issues but it would have put him into a position to get a lucrative contract in Europe. At one point this kid was considered the best PG in his class in the entire U.S..... Like I said... it is a shame.

Iona86.... it wil be ok. Come back off that ledge. He only averaged 10 or so a game at Ox. Looking at the video you would think he went for 40 a night. He didn't shoot many threes and was about 40% for the field.
He did us a favor.
