Great news that coach Cluess is staying at Iona. No disrespect meant whatsoever, but one thing the administration ABSOLUTELY needs to do is capitalize on Tim's success and loyalty this time around. Despite enormous amounts of success we've had on the court we haven't been able to convert that to fundraising dollars and expansion of fanbase to the extent required to take the next step as a program. Now that we know coach Cluess is sticking around we need to push the gas pedal and get moving on fundraising for facilities upgrades. There is young, fresh leadership in the athletic department to make this happen. Let's make it happen now. We can't turn this into another squandered opportunity. There needs to be high level of urgency, accountability and it needs to be a total team effort from athletic department, academic leadership and us (the fans, donors, alums, etc.). Let's start in a very small way by showing a little more support for the Goal Club. Its major annual fundraising event is the Hall of Fame Golf Outing and Dinner. The cost for the dinner is $250. Let's plan to attend or, in the case of those unable to attend, assist with some level of sponsorship. We need to begin to demonstarte additional support. Tim has re-evaluated his situation--maybe it's time for us to do so as well. Sitting back and offering suggestions/complaints on a message board is way too easy.

I will send a donation now to the goal club. We need some big time rainmaking to make this work, though. Otherwise go to D-3 and focus on academics, ala schools like NYU.
If only someone here would come up with an idea like vitamin water. I’ve read that with rain forest depletion in approx 15 years coffee will no longer be massed produced for consumers. It will become a treat for the wealthy. Working on a coffee substitute now. Might be too late by the time I sell it to Coke for $4billion.

Super...while I 100% agree about GC support and sponsorship, I think those are just crumbs when what we really need is a wedding cake. I think a fundraising plan needs to be presented. Clear action plan with aggressive goals, strong vision and fancy visuals to support it. Something that everyone gets excited about and something that clearly displays the impact that their contribution will have on the program. Just my two cents. But yes, the GC event is a good place to start.

If you decide to support the HOF event, tell Matt you’re a board contributor.

I would love to see this happen. I have been disappointed by the meager number of ‘up’ home games that Monmouth, Stony Brook, Hofstra and Quinnipiac have been able to secure despite first rate facilities on campus. I wouldn’t expect too much.
