Only two weeks until tip-off. Anyone know anything about Cleveland State? Seems like they are defensive minded and it'll be a classic game of offense vs. defense. Can't wait to see how the team looks live and in action.
Go Gaels!

Can't wait to see how the team looks live and in action. Go Gaels! 05--------They were 6-0 on their recent trip to France and Belgium. The opposition was not of the best quality...IMO it was equal to a mid-range Div.2 team....I watched film clips of those games...Cleveland State appeared to be improved offensively...They are quite big, but a little on the slow side... Being a computer novice, I don't know how to transfer, but if you are interested in watching those clips---Google in ''Cleveland State basketball forum''...Go back a month or so in their topics...It's a interesting watch.......They have the advantage of having played those game, so we will have to on our toes as it can be a catch game...

OI. you are correct, they are big and a bit slow. Improved over last year, have a good young team with a transfer from Miami and another good player back from injury. Gaels will want to speed this one up, Vikings will want to slow it down.

From what I understand they had some key injuries last year and are better than their record indicated. They have a good backcourt and good size. They want to play faster than they did last year, which I'm sure we'll be happy to accomodate.

Just checked HorizonLeague.org and it shows our game as a live event on Saturday at 2PM. Pretty sure it's free.

I will be missing the game as my football team is playing a bowl game, but a reminder that the chat room is there for your enjoyment and swearing needs!

Game comparison...A lot of unknown factors. They will have size on us not so much height but body weight...Our advantage in speed will probably offset that...They will have a disadvantage at the guard position with height and lack of numbers...Foul trouble could be big trouble for their guards...They will have to contend with our potent offensive, particularly from beyond the 3 point line...They will have the home court and the early season Europe trip advantage...Give them 3 1/2 points for home court, I make it a toss up...If WILLIAMS is ready to play and contribute Iona by 1 1/2 to a 2 point favorite...The early portion of the game could be important as it will set up a confidence trend that might be difficult to overcome.....''As the horses approach the starting gate''...

Sagarin for what its worth at this point has CSU as a 2.5pt favorite; Pomeroy has us losing 73-72.

Cleveland's last exhibition game box score and recap....Thanks Gael4LLife.... We may think we are playing Siena up in Albany....Cleveland State shot 38 foul shots, the Div.2 club 18....That's a tough edge to overcome...I went back and looked at some of previous box scores, and that appears the be not unusual..........

Relative to my last post...As a fan of about 70 years, I can honestly say......There were times when we got a good ''Deal'' from the refs. but IONA has not been a ''Homer's'' court...Visiting teams must be aware when entering Hynes they are in for a ''fair deal''...I have over the years visited home courts where Refs. are part of their arsenal......
