CJB, the Old Spice and the other major tournaments give mid-majors, like Iona, the chance to play the Big Boys on a neutral court. IMO, Iona has always done well, losing some close games but winning our share. It also helps teams fill out their schedules. I like being in these tournaments, but I'm not sure how the other posters feel.

Thanks 59, but I believe there are plenty of other channels available where MAAC teams can play the Big Boys on a neutral court. And remember, we're talking about only a single MAAC team playing in this tourney each year. I like the chance of playing a BCS school in a tourney too, but I'm not sure it necessitates the need to sponsor a tourney to do so. Especially, one that supposedly requires schools to shell out a lot of money to play in. Perhaps each school President receives a years supply of body wash, antiperspirant and after shave. Just tired of watching the floors wiped just about every year by a MAAC team.

Cjb, I'm ONLY TALKING about playing in them. And, as you know, besides the Old Spice there are a number of other tournaments. By sponsoring the OS, we are allocated a slot, so I guess that is why we do it. And I guess the days of bringing one of the Bigs to NYC to play us, is not going to happen.
