............almost always hits the target, and yesterday Tre was a VERY GOOD bow man, hitting the target on 11-13 tries. And four of his arrows were shot from a long distance. He might have to share POW with Antoine Mason, but I'd have to see how many shots Mason took to score 33 points.

It was 24 shots to be exact. Mason was 9-24, 1-5 from 3 pt line, and 14-17 from the foul line. Not exactly as "efficient" in a loss as Tre was in a win.

Good point on the win vs loss, but I'll bet they'll be Co-POW's.

I think they'll either give it exclusively to Mason or give it to Mason and Bowman in a co POY situation. The thing Mason has going for him is that Niagara played two games last week, and he had 30+ points in both of them (both were losses BTW). Tough to leave a guy that puts up two 30+ performances off the list.

Mason is a fine player, but lives on a dead end street...Niagara has lost 6 out of 7 games with no hope in sight...He has attempted 3 times the shots then any other team member, not because he is a selfish player, but because he is the only offensive threat...His 250. 3 point average indicates he although a good shooter is forced to take many scattered shots...But the point to be taken is even without him Niagara's record would be just as dismal...Although it may not to some to be fair, IMO a player on a terrible bottom dweller team is hard to recognize as conference player of the week... A baseball Mgr. once responded to a player who had a good season ''We finished last with you, and we can finish last without you''

Congratulations to Tre Bowman! His game against Florida Gulf Coast will be a great memory and a highlight for his Iona career. I had expected that he would be our X Factor this season. He is the type of player who will do what is needed for that game. Great that he had such a game as it will boost his confidence on taking the critical shot when needed. His free throw shooting will be critical at several points this season as we work to climb back or bury a team such as Manhattan. Coach Cluess does not get enough credit for working hard with these players on how to focus and value each possession. As this team develops we will appreciate what the coaches have been working hard on with the players. We are fortunate that we have this coaching staff and this group of players. Looking forward to many great games this year. GO GAELS!

Just noticed that Monmouth's Josh James who won the Rookie of the week award for the 2nd time is from Archbishop Stepinac in White Plains. I was wondering did we ever have any interest in him?

Yes we offered him. The last guy we got from the White Plains area named James was not to happy with Iona. Maybe they are related.

Josh James and Ra'shad James are not related. I know Ra'Shad James on a personal level and he was very upset with how he was used. He has no ill will towards the school and the coaching staff but was frustrated and had to make a decision that was best for him.
