Sorry if someone suggested this already, but if the MAAC does expand to 12 schools (which I believe it will eventually), why not split the conference up into 2 divisions of 6 teams. Each team plays everyone in their division twice (10 games) plus one game against each team in the other division (6 games), for a total of 16 games. This would also free up 4 OOC games, and thus help RPI, SOS rankings and at-large credentials. Geographically speaking it makes a lot of sense: NY METRO/NJ: Iona Manhattan Monmouth Rider Saint Peter's TBD UPSTATE/CT: Canisius Fairfield Marist Niagara Quinnipiac Siena Been pushing for this to happen. Some times coaches don't like the imbalanced conference schedule, since, at times, it gives advantages to teams which have to play stronger teams 2x.

I'd be worried about that TBD game, their Bigs are tough.

Monmouth is making strides as a program--like the rest of the MAAC, including us, they didn't do well enough OOC. But their recruiting has picked up. Quinny is in great position but needed to be stronger this year--there's enough there to have been pretty darn good.

guy, I agree they will be get better, but when they were accepted I didn't see why, and this year could be the difference in an at large bid

How about NJIT as the 12th MAAC School? Independent currently. Having a good year. Show up on the Mid Major ranking list, a few positions behind Rider, so they are being shown more respect than 9 MAAC schools. Perhaps the MAAC is better as is. If a current MAAC school dropped out, wouldn't St. Joe's and La Salle be a great pair to add. Wishful thinking, I know.

NJIT, their gym holds about 500 people. And while SJU and LaSalle would be great additions, I don't see them joining the MAAC.

NJIT is trying to get new facilities or re-do what they have. I think they'd be a perfect fit. Great coach and great recruiter. That's a program on the rise.
And it's close. We can get there easily.
Wagner would be a good pick too.

endwee, talk to me when their new facilities become a reality. And I don't see what positives Wagner would bring to the table. My 'wish' for another local team would be Hofstra. They have great facilities, and are in a League that is not travel friendly. If we were playing in a League with three teams having great facilities and two with rental arenas, it might put enough pressure on the Iona Administration to upgrade the HAC.
P.S. My guess, and it's just a guess is that NJIT will lose their coach long before they get a significant facility upgrade.
