Can so done give me quick summary? Hard to describe! Gaels up 12 in 1st half--lead dwindles by half time; Niagara up 12 in 2nd half with 4:00 to go (IW & Poole foul out); down 4 under a minute--they miss some fts; scramble for ball down 2-Sledge passes to AJ for 3--we hold on for last 7 seconds; Offensive rebounds-Niagara 20 Iona 3

Missed the whole thing at my son's soccer practice. What happened? Iona dominated the first 15 minutes, got in foul trouble and than proceeded to play like Ruland's last year Gaels, down by 12 with 3 left being out rebounded by over 20, A few baskets and a few misses by Niagara and next thing you know Mason is on the line shooting 2 up 2 and misses both due to injured knee. Iona chance to tie or win, wild scramble averts disastrous Laury turnover, English wide open for 3 with 7 seconds left and drains it. Niagara misses shot and tough follow and Iona wins a 1 pointer. A very untypical Gael win. Don't forget the Ware kid who transferred from Monmouth to Iona to Niagara, he missed 3 ft's in a row at the end of the game also to help the Gaels win.

Did we play badly or were we playing 5 on 7? Poole had 4 fouls, AJ had 4, and IW fouled out?

It's hard to even remember what happened the last 3 minutes, I know Armand hit a 3 and I know Niagara got a couple of huge offensive rebounds that should have cost us the game and yes Ware choked but overall not sure how the hell we won!

Maac now has 4 teams in the top 100 in RPI:. manny 87, Canisius 91 Iona 97 Quinny 98. what looked like a terrible Maac year is turning out pretty good, and I don't believe the top 4 were ever this close together and all in top 100.

And once again Ensor should be ashamed of himself for allowing MAAC semis to not be on real TV, I can see quarters on ESPN3 but he needs to get SNY, MSG or ESPNU to cover semis, disgrace that this good of a possible semis will only be on a computer.

Congrats to the guys. Sounds like we're banged up, in a fog, tired, on the road, and we grit it out. LOVE IT!!!!

I also missed the game and had to track on the I-Phone. Last checked and we were down 10 with 4:00 to go. Noticed that Poole had 4 fouls and IW had just fouled out. Checked the score from my son's hoop game and saw we were up 90-89 with 8 seconds to go. Knot in the stomach as I had visions of a joebird dagger against us. Glad we survived the late flurry and avoided the upset.
Perhaps the ability of our team to come back and win a tight one will pay dividends in about a month.

My last rant of the evening. We are all going to either go to the games or will watch on ESPN3 but the casual fan will never watch. In fact since this has been on ESPN3 the NY media completely ignores the games, no mention at all on the NY TV newscasts.

Talk about poetic justice and the basketball gods smiling down on us. We choke one away inexplicably at Niagara a year ago and then Niagara returns the same misfortune to us a year later. Some observations from the game:
1. Goes without saying, but we had no business winning this game. Perfect storm of luck, horrible execution by Niagara, and some really big plays by us, put us over the top.
2. Injury or not, Mason lost the game for Niagara. Horrible decision making to shoot a 25 foot heave with 2 (?) mins left and 20+ secs on the shot clock when they were trying to run the clock out. Just awful.
3. Sledge is the unsung hero of this game. Had a crucial and 1 drive as well as the hustle play that led to AJs game winner. Great to see him stepping up late in the season.
4. Poole has absolutely got to learn to stay out of foul trouble. Seems like every game he has 2 fouls in the first 10 minutes. We really need him to be relevant deep into games if we want to have a chance. If he were in the game instead of on the bench then the offensive rebounding stats wouldn't have been nearly as one sided as they were.
5. DL3 absolute beast on the offensive end tonight, and truly wanted the ball in his hands late in the game, which was great to see. Only knock on him would be that he played a bit soft on the defensive end and, had it not been for a miracle finish, could have been the goat with some key missed rebounds and a mental lapse at the end. But then again, we would've lost by 20 if it weren't for his offensive effort tonight.
6. Williams coming up big again for us, but still some bonehead fouls that easily could've been avoided.
7. AJ is definitely our assassin. Despite another off night he had no problem taking the biggest shot of the game, and in true gamer style, he drained the shot.
8. Thought Cluess should've rolled the dice and brought Poole back into the game much sooner than he did, and truly believe that if Poole was on the floor we would've avoided the big Niagara run that led to the 12 point hole. But we won the game, so guess we'll let that go.
9. Like everyone else, I was totally resigned to the loss with about 5 minutes to go and was basically just going through the motions watching the final minutes of the game. When Niagara drained a three to match Tavon's layup + foul, and then when they got the offensive rebound with 1 minute left I was convinced we were done. Still trying to figure out how we pulled this game out, it really was a miracle.
10. Best case scenario happened tonight with our win coupled with Canisius' loss. I still believe we are in good position to win the conference even with a loss on Sunday now.
I'm going to play Mega Millions now. Go Gaels!!!

I had a black tie dinner to go to tonight, but followed the game on my IPhone when I could. During the cocktail hour it looked to be going pretty well, but saw we were only up 4 at the half. During dinner I really couldn’t check the game because I thought it would be rude to avoid the table conversation. I excused myself to go smoke a cigarette and saw we were down 86-74 with about 4 minutes left. I figured we were cooked – damned Western NY trip. I went back to the table and checked the phone and saw we were down by 2 with :24 left. I left the table again and saw we were up 1 with 8 seconds left. It felt like an eternity before it was a final. The icing on the cake was seeing the Manhattan “W”. So, we go to Canisius with a 1 game lead. I got back to the table as the entertainment was about to begin. A good night, indeed!
Go Gaels!!!

Z, Down 12 were you attempting to trade in your cigarette for something recently legalized in Colorado? ?
