Sound like he can replace what Poole gave us this year

Patience. The staff is not done yet with recruits for next year. Expecting some surprises. As far as the starting lineup who knows. Look at this year's lineups. Expecting continued progress with everyone. Coach Cluess and staff do a good job in developing talent.

I'm confused. Is his last name Young or McMillan? Yes He changed his last name to Young. All of his High School stats are under the name McMillan.

All of us (I believe) are excited by Hines and Robinson, as I am. However, after seeing Hines in limited action in Springfield, I have to say that he and Daniel have to get a LOT STRONGER if they are going to contribute with meaningful PT. Rydien does have a nice outside touch, but we need him (and Daniel) to hit the boards. So I hope they hit the weights, this summer. In the TC style he wants guys that can run, and Scott seems to fit that description, but I don't know how strong he is, either. But Shaq is considered the best leaper, of the front court players, on the team, and that whets my appetite.

Hopefully Scott brings intensity and energy similar to Williams. You can never have enough energy guys, especially when we need to shut somebody down. Watch out for Williams next year as he deferred to veterans on team. I expect we will see all his offensive arsenal next season filling the void left by Bowman.

Right now one of the most important decision for next year will be the mind set of A.J English. Right now it is in fish or fowl land.....
His 3 point shooting for most of the year was in the vicinity of slightly better than 400%...The last few games it has taken a significant drop. IMO it comes about from significant pressure for him be something he is not... He now passes without purpose, and often does not take his shot in order to do so. When he now decides to shoot, it is hesitant, a second to slow and without A.J. confidence...He appears to me at least to have lost his ''I'll do it'' ways.
Good players are often over coached...English is a scorer whose natural basketball instincts which were probably developed under his fathers teaching...He averaged 17.5 point this year his first full year, and if not impeded will improve the next two years he has left...
In the coming year lets define his duties, and make sure that it does not constrict or interfere with what he does exceedingly well...

It was clear from his face and his demeanor that AJ lost confidence in his ability to dribble the ball. Coach asked DL3 to do it and that kills us in many ways. We need a point guard. IC59 was on the money. You were correct also OT in that Poole was not an offensive threat. He is a good defender, but smart teams laid off him to help guard others. Still a very good and exciting team but like all teams, there were flaws.

Sledge can give us meaningful minutes next year. Tough to see him as a starter with Amayo and AJ in the mix, but if he puts work in the offseason into his jumper he can be a major contributor. Right now I see him as more of a situational type substitute when we need to push the ball or need a sparkplug on defense, but there's a long offseason ahead and still plenty of room for change.
iona05--good to spend time with you in Springfield.
Undoubtedly, there will be major changes to the roster listed in this thread by July. I just hope we don't diminish Amayo's value by forcing him to play the point. Sledge needs to work hard to get out of the doghouse and off the short leash.
Is Scott a redshirt frosh next year?

Super good to see you, too. Was hoping we'd see each other again in the NCAAs next week, but guess it wasn't meant to be.
Yes, Shack will be redshirt frosh next season.

Guys, we still have some more basketball this season. Our men and women have to fire themselves up to go out there and bring home some hardware. It's possible! These teams are too good to be talking about next season.

Me either, but the Coach yells at him 3 minutes into the game in 90% of the games he plays and we don't see him again. Same kid who was pg through end of season & MAAC tourney last year. Deep doghouse. I'm not sure its the doghouse. Maybe it is. I was watching Chazz Williams of UMass a while back. Tavon is about the same height and just as athletic. Chazz is a more consistent, more confident outside shooter, but Tavon can take his man off the dribble just as well. Tavon has trouble finishing sometimes though. When you look at Williams he has a pretty strong upper body that allows him to absorb contact and use his strength to shield off defenders. Sledge is thinner up top, strong, but more slender and wiry. You need your PG ideally to be able to penetrate and make a lay up or pass it back out. He's also got to be a good enough outside shooter obviously to keep the defense honest. I thought in limited time Sledge showed improvement in his outside shot. I wonder if he can put some muscle on his upper body frame.

Much has been discussed on this board about Sledge being in the ''Dog House'' What does this infer. Is he in the dog house for some personnel infraction? Is there of some animosity between him and Cluess, and he has played little because of it...This would make the ridiculous assumption that Cluess puts personal feelings above teams needs.....''Dog House'' is a misleading term....Sledge does not get much playing time because the teams productivity while he is the game decreases greatly...I don't know of kept stats to prove that, but becoming aware of that possibility, I with some games kept tract what the score was when he entered and when he left...The results confirmed my suspicions, and I am sure the reason for Cluess actions... Sledge is a fine player, but the last thing Iona needs is to get smaller with the use of a 5-9 player...He would be a valuable addition to a team such as Quinny which has great height, but he does not fit with Iona's makeup... IMO a point guard with agility, strength, ability and at least 6-2 is high on Iona' search list...I also hope my sometime strong voiced opinions do not rattle to many Sledge fans.
