10pm Manhattan is idiotic, and yes I know it's Espn that does this.

Joebird I think you are missing the big picture...gives the MAAC great exposure in the west coast and Hawaiian time zones. ;-)

2pm Tuesday time for Florida gulf coast game sucks, ruins a great home ooc game. I know it's not Iona's fault, hate the fact that i will almost definitely have to miss this one! Couldn't agree more. One of the most attractive ooc games played on a weekday afternoon at 2PM? If this is what opponents expect to reciprocate their end of a home and home deal, it really has little worth to many of the most loyal fans.

FGCU got caught in a conference realignment and has had real problems with schedule--not an excuse--just an explanation. They have no real interest in flying on Christmas Eve, This game is viewed as a big deal for them--NYC exposure.

Iona picked first by Athlon's. So that's 2 of 3 out so for, with Lindy's going with (*snicker*) Siena.

Iona picked first by Athlon's. So that's 2 of 3 out so for, with Lindy's going with (*snicker*) Siena.
I think the infatuation with Siena has been led with the advantage of home court at Pepsi...If they were to play their home games for instance at Yanatelli, they would be immediately dropped several spots in pre-season polls....They have probably one of the biggest home court advantage in Div.l basketball...The much larger crowds with their encouragement and Ref. sway increases the advantage.... Siena has improved, but far from fan enthusiasm and expectations which has raced far ahead of true evaluation...Poole is a fine player, but far from the one needed to lead the MAAC...Their bench is extremely weak, and its fans see each player no matter the level of play, as their savior...They will no doubt be hard to beat at Pepsi, but will have major road issues...With a few road surprise victories, IMO they have a outside chance of totaling 18-20 wins, but beyond that is doubtful even with the 5 or more points opponents must overcome, especially in the MAAC Tourney....... If I were a Siena fan, I would be looking forwarded hopefully to this season, but with realistic expectations...and thankful for circumstances and location of my team...
Practice is allowed 42 days before our 1st game...Since our 1st game is on the 14th of November, I make it Oct. 2nd a Thursday......That is in 13 days...I think players are allowed one day a week without practice...The NCAA likes to make everything difficult... I think Guy is waiting for a announcement before picks...

Bad day for wheelchair ride, decided to check MAAC teams OOC schedule........
On a scale of 1 to ten, I would put none of them more then a 5...Siena's OOC is a joke, and I would give them a weak 3...If they are as good as their fans think they are, they should be favorite in every game but one...The only tough game is at UMASS which should be a loss...If we were to change OOC schedule with Siena, we would go no worst then 8-2 with a fair chance at 10-0...
Our OOC schedule should rate at least a strong 7...In addition we play 6 of the ten on a well mileaged road...
Unless there is a major surprise MAAC team, IMO there is little chance for any of these teams beside the Gails receiving a at large bid considering the weakness of their OOC schedules...
Of course these are the thoughts a long time Gail fan, but I try hard not to let my fan controlled biased leanings interfere.....

It's in our best interest to play toughest ooc we can find in order to receive an at large in the event we don't win the maac tourney.....we have enough talent to do this but most maac teams do not......the ooc proves that our staff truly believes in our talent

ESPN Info on some of our opponents who made foreign trips this summer:
Drexel
Standout Damion Lee, who missed all but five games last season, did not play on the team’s trip to China for precautionary reasons. Bruiser Flint said that Lee, who averaged 13 points before suffering a torn ACL, is cleared to play full-speed. Tavon Allen got hit in the head in the second game and sat out the rest of the trip. The standouts were 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Rodney Williams and a pair of freshmen: guard Rashann London and forward Tyshawn Miles.
George Mason
The Patriots won all three games in Spain, and coach Paul Hewitt said that former Top 100 player Erik Copes is in the best shape of his life and just needs to stay healthy. Marquise Moore (knee) and Eric Lockett (partially torn quad) didn’t play, and freshman Therence Mayimba still hasn’t been cleared by the NCAA, but Moore and Lockett should be back for the start of practice.
Junior college transfer Shevon Thompson, a left-handed big man from the junior college ranks, also played well. “He’s an old-fashioned throwback who rebounds, blocks shots and makes jump hooks,” Hewitt said.
Hewitt also said that Georgia Tech transfer Julian Royal, who sat out last season, has dropped about 10 pounds and can score in a variety of ways.
Wofford
Coach Mike Young admitted that for his veteran team, which went to the NCAA tourney last season and returns just about everyone, the trip to Costa Rica was as much a reward as anything else.
“These guys are smart, savvy, high-character guys who just get it," Young said. "They make it easy for me and a lot of fun.” Young said that two players made strides from last season and will bolster the quality of the team's depth: junior forward Justin Gordon and sophomore guard Jaylen Allen. Young said he’d be shocked if this season's group doesn’t score with more regularity than last season's.
“We were unbelievable defensively last season,” he said. “But we didn’t score real well. If a couple of guys didn’t ring the bell, it was a tractor pull. This year, we have the ability to score a lot of points -- and a chance to still be special defensively.”
