The Barc is also a much nicer facility than the Garden. Better place to see a game. Have you been to the Garden lately?

Been to both lately. The Garden did a nice renovation. The Barc is hands down the better facility however. Better food, easier to move around the arena and you are much closer to the court than in comparable seating in the Garden.
Can't argue that the Garden has the history and tradition though.

I agree, I have season tickets at both, I like the barc much better and it seems they have more college basketball games than the garden I still don't understand how we don't work with any of the other local schools to sched a doubleheader with 2 bcs schools wouldn't one of the local arenas take it, meadowlands? Newark? even Nassau with a team from out there

I hope the AD is working on getting us into the Barc.

Wouldn't the Barc or MSG be a game that we would have to pay to get into or guarantee a certain number of tix sales? If that's the case I don't see the attraction. Why not keep our OOC games as buy games where we actually make money or do them as home and homes with reputable teams?

Especially if we can get an invite to one of the tourneys or showcases they have.

Okay, mids like Gonzaga or maybe BYU. Programs carrying national recognition, those with some sort of "buzz" factor.

I agree. Just don't see the attraction of playing against a team like Fordham, LIU or Wagner at the Barc/MSG in front of 2,000 fans as an undercard game before two other main events. Would rather schedule high RPI road games where we get paid, or home and homes against solid mids.
Now if it were SJU or some type of national name brand school, that's another story.

Interesting how over the past several years with conference reshuffling the line between who is a major or a mid-major has become blurred. Do we really consider Rutgers, Depaul, Creighton, Penn State, etc major programs? Is BYU with 34,000 students a mid-major? Is the distinction determined by how much the head coach is paid? How many fans attend games? Conference affiliation? My point is that we need to forget major vs mid-major and focus instead on playing the best teams RPI wise that we can schedule. Build credibility. Successful programs such as Kansas know that it is in their interest to play quality teams for the OOC schedule vs what St Johns has done with cupcakes. In my opinion I would like high pace programs such as Louisiana Tech on our schedule. Exciting high scoring games will increase our profile and attract recruits. I trust our AD and President Nyre working with Coach Cluess will find the best opponents we can schedule. Would like a few of these OOC opponents to agree to home and home vs one and done. Hopefully Quinnipiac and Manhattan can maintain their success and Siena and Marist can continue to improve to help the conference RPI.

Did a little research abouth the Barc for the upcoming season:
Coaches vs. Cancer (Nov 21 and 22) - Duke, UNLV, Stanford and Temple Championship Rounds of the Legends Classic (Nov 24 and Nov 25) - Villanova, Michigan, VCU and Oregon 3rd Annual Barclay's Center Classic (Nov 28 and Nov 29) - Rutgers, Virginia, Vanderbilt and LaSalle
I'm not certain if the following double header is a part of the 2014 Brooklyn Hoops Invitational or not. If not then there's an open triple header at the end of December. I'm figuring that Manhattan may be a part of this.
Here's the doubleheader:
Fordham.Hofstra vs. LIU St.John's vs Tulane

Saw that too...LIU says it's going to LIU vs. Hofstra, not Fordham in its game...Hofstra should be a good team with Mihalich, his transfers and signings over the past year...LIRR stops at the Barc...good venue for them as long as the Coliseum is more or less dormant.

Great.
