Thought he would go for a higher profile job. Marquette?? Guess he doesn't want to live in Milwaukee. Chris Sullivan, the founder of Outback Steakhouse, is a Kentucky grad and a close friend of Pitino. He is a supporter of USF and is pushing for Masiello to take the job and I am sure he has sweetened the deal.

Usually this news would make me happy. Potential to screw up Manhattan for a couple of years. But, this time I was looking forward to a great rivalry over the next couple of years. Guess it could still happen if they pick the right coach and are able to retain the bulk of their recruits.

greg, I think we will have a great rivalry with siena for the next few yrs, so I do agree its not the jaspers but pretty nice when 10,000 rv driving rednecks are quiet in the times center arena or whatever its called this yr

Manhattan is a far more classy rivalry. They don't have the inferiority complex that is rampant with the hoosiers from Albany. They showed the complex again last night against Penn State: a, by showing up for the game, and b, rushing the Court.

I agree better rivalry when its the jaspers, but can have just so many good teams at once in the maac, and I think quinny will be good for the conference also

Two thoughts...
1. USF did not get the best coach in the MAAC
2. Any school hiring a Pitino disciple needs to be aware that Pitino will be pimping him to other schools immediately after his first bit of success
