Didn't Eddie Jordan of Rutgers survive the same issue at the start of this season when he was hired?

Don't mean to pile on Mass 83 but how can Manhattan possibly take him back? Notre Dame dropped O'Leary for essentially the same issue. Very embarrassing for both Mass and the Jaspers who didn't do their home work on him. Don't forget how he lied while walking out the door saying how committed he was and then said good-bye to his players. Time for the Jaspers to close the door on him and get another up and coming young coach. I would not feel sorry for Mass at all. He knew what he was doing. Pitino is a low life. I didn't say they should take him back, but that I could see them doing it, and outlined a way to do it. Bottom line is that he turned around the program in a short period of time, and that will count for something with some of the decision makers at MC. And as ESPN pointed out, this is the school that previously employed Frascilla and Gonzo. I think MC's tolerance for coaching foibles might be higher than you think. In any event, this sure is chaotic.

I don't think he is going back, jaspers got a new ad at the end of the year. so no connection or loyalty to mass, would you rehire him as your first move?

Agreed 70, was thinking the same thing. The new AD coming on board is a big factor. Why would his first move to be to rehire a guy who was deceitful and disloyal both in the span of the past week? Seems like the conservative move for the new AD would be to wipe the slate clean, hire a new coach, and show Jasper faithful that he believes in morals and ethics.

agree 05, especially if he was talking to pitino about sflorida the day of the game, looks bad, even though I think his coaching was affected

Masiello placed on leave until he straightens out his degree situation at Kentucky, whatever that means. Either he has a degree or not. I think he will be back at Manhattan next year. Manhattan is crazy for taking him back because he will just walk on them again the first time he gets a chance

If it's ruled that he was ineligible, does that make Iona MAAC champs? And before some of the brain surgeons, who post on the MAAC board chime in, I'M ONLY KIDDING. We could hang a banner in the meantime.

Did anyone else, who heard Massiello's rant versus the reporter about the George Beamon POY question think what I did? That Karma caught up to Massiello for piling on in such a venomous fashion at a guy that asked a reasonable question in the process of just trying to do his job.

I had the same thought, although the more old school, "what goes around comes around" version. He acted like an arrogant jerk to that reporter for no reason. It still floors me that anyone can claim they didn't know whether they graduated college or not. For that reason alone (being stupid) he should be cut lose. No coach should be bigger than the institution he works for. Manhattan College will be a better place without him.

Strange silence from Manhattan on this. I wonder if they were waiting for Elite 8 to be finished before they gave an update in order to avoid national discussion of the topic. How long does it take to verify degree status and then make a decision?

How long does it take to verify degree status and then make a decision? If they wait much longer he will be able to earn that degree.
