armand was my all-time favorite player at iona. machado was probably the best all-around because he made everyone on the court better. i don't think we've seen the best out of aj english yet. he could be near the top of this list by the end of his career.
my rankings:
machado burtt armand momo aj soliver

Interesting question because some of these guys excelled in specific skills. Machado being an excellent passer for instance, Sean, Burtt being excellent 3 pt shooters, etc. If you take everything into account, passing, shooting, handle, decision making, intangibles, FT shooting, steals, and defense, leaving AJ out as an incomplete, and not counting how the PG's ran the offense, I think I go with:
MoMo Soliver Sean Burtt,Jr. Scott

[quote author=" ionafootball1999"...rank the great guards we've had over the past few years. Steve Burtt Sr.....The best all around player of the bunch. Ricky Soliver....Could do it all.....A winner. Sean Armand...Best pure shooter... Scott Machado...Best Point guard...Offense fell short. Momo JONES...Only 2 yr. time keeps him down this far. A.J. English...Incomplete...When done, may challenge list.. Place Steve Burtt Jr. in 6th spot until English finishes.

Burtt would have averaged 30 a game his snr year under Cluess and probably would have over taken his father as the all time leading scorer. Absolutely no way Momo was a better player than Burtt.

MoMo could get to the basket better than Burtt, Jr.

*Scott the best PG. *MoMo the best combo guard. *Sean the best shooter. *Stevie, second best shooter. *Ricky best all-around (PG/OG/SF) player. *AJ, if he gets to play with a VG PG, could become the best combo guard, as he has a ton of potential.
All of the above might be guards, but they all played different positions. If I were starting a team and could only have one, I'd go with Scott.

They must be getting old, and fading into the distant memories of a few of us. No mention so far of Kevin Hamilton or Glen Vickers and probably a few I am forgetting.

As the way the team is now composed the one player that does not seem to be much mentioned is a player that would fit Cluess system best is Sean Green...Along with A.J. English, and the freshman point guard addition, with their aggressive scoring ability would give opponent back court fits, and open tons of room for others with the same nature...
It is now only pure conjecture, but they might have reached a average of close to 90 PPG....

1970, in OT's mind, and mine to a lesser extent, Vickers and Hamilton played in the last few years.
