I mentioned it briefly in a previous post, but for those that have not seen A.J.English since the end of last season, you will amazed at his body transformation...His shoulders have broaden immensely and his arms have thickend greatly as maturity has set in...He is no longer the high school bodied kid that arrived here 2 years ago... His recent play out in California has rocketed attention from Pro Scouts, and his quite confidence inspires others...In California he arrived among the best players from the biggest school in the country, and opened qualified eyes widely... I am aware that I have a reputation as a Iona fan who can be to outspoken and at times critical, but I will go on rare record as predicting A.J will have a immense year and will be remembered with Iona's best...

Agree OT--AJ has definitely bulked up. Amayo is a load. Dublin is also broader than his predecessors. DLIII is as fit as we have seen him. Team will be stronger than past teams without losing the quickness.

Sound incredible. Add IW to the mix and Oh My! Plus Hines, Robinson (with health) and the smaller ball handlers and WOW!

Just wanted to summarize the remaining guys with the emphasis on IW as a key player. Great possibilities with this squad.

Iona has 3 of the best 5 players in the Maac, that is all you need to know, the rest of the team is complimentary, but I am sure a couple of them will shine. I think only Iona fans know how good IW is.

English played well, knocking down shots and playing solid defense throughout the weekend. (RJ
Love the "solid defense"!

AJ should be preseason POY and the stage is set over the next two years for him to shine. Interesting to note that his numbers are not too far off from Steve Burtt Sr after his soph season (22.1 ppg, 1.8 apg, 51% fg, 73% ft vs. 17.3 ppg, 4.3 apg, 41% fg, 77% ft). Should be an exciting next two seasons with AJ leading the team and will be interesting to see if he can make the same leap that the other greats made when moving from role playing underclassmen to leader upperclassmen.

Just a few interesting comparisons to other Iona stars at the SG position after their soph seasons. Should make everyone appreciate what AJ's doing even more:
AJ: 17.3 ppg, 4.3 apg, 41% fg, 77% ft Burtt Sr: 22.1 ppg, 1.8 apg, 51% fg, 73% ft Green: 13.1 ppg, 0.6 apg, 41% fg, 67% ft Burtt Jr: 13.5 ppg, 2.3 apg, 44% fg, 82% ft Hamilton: 10.2 ppg, 3.3 apg, 42% fg, 78% ft

Burtt Sr is probably a stretch I agree, but point is AJ is right up there with the best of them after year 2 as a Gael.
