Ot/Ep, please tell me what he does that makes him the best player on the team, also what part of his game did he get better since last year, and its not one game, and when you consider him the next great you put him in the top 5 or top 20, top5 to me is great and I don't think he compares to anyone that high
He is like carmelo he can play D but usually chooses not to, fear of foul trouble, scoring avg suffers, no I in team
The jealous resentment of A.J. English continues............I have seen this kind of resentment many times over the years................Attack its best player no matter what he does do, or how good he is...
A.J. has been a example of a perfect team member...He never fails to give a full effort...He plays almost the entire game...He inspires and guides the younger members of the team...He for a time was the leading scored in the Nation...Although he is one of the Nations top Pro recruits, if he happens to have a game that does come up to his usual high standards, attack it, and suggest that it was because he ''chooses not to play defense because his scoring average suffers'' That line exposes much and disregards the thought that he was instructed to be careful of foul trouble, for without him the chances of winning the game are greatly diminished...
There are players on Iona that need constructive criticism, but to continually find picayune faults of arguably your best player smacks of ''knock their best'' as it will ''diminish the rest'' long used attack treatment... [/quote]
I think the biggest problem is the small lineup. You can't have Casimir and IBN on the floor at the same time and complain about defense. Anyone with height can just shoot over them. Sorry but I don't see success with 5'9er's in the mix.

1970..........My Post is opinion...We all have them...Time will give light to respectful differences...Treat them as such...Especially sport discussions...I am old enough to remember there were fans that thought that Babe Ruth stunk because he did not hit a home run the day they attended.
ot, I am asking you what makes your opinion your opinion, I hate when someone says they are great without actually saying why, peime example, jeter was great because he is jeter

AJ is a junior with 2/3 of this year's games remaining. He has had some spectacular games this year, with points, boards and assists. He's drawn a lot of NBA interest. I'm not as basketball smart as the scouts, but in my opinion he will be one of Iona's greats when all is said and done.

1970.........Did you ever hear that old-old-old saying................ ''Opinions are like Assholes we all have them''......The very fact that they are opinions makes them a right...They may be ridiculous but that does not negate your right to them...
That is why as your convoluted 'What makes your opinion your opinion'' needs but one answer ''Because that is my opinion' ....
Scott, though a better passer, was turning the ball over almost as much as AJ. AJ is a better scorer, shooter and rebounder. Scott has also been asked to play PG which is not his forte as he is a true SG, not the combo everyone wants him to be.
I find myself closer to 1970's side of this debate.
Minus the anger, I hope!
AJ's bad games: ISU: 8PTS, 6A's, 4TO's (Ugh), 1 steal. GMU:10Pts, 2 A's, 6TO's, 3B's, 1 S.
Has anyone listened to AJ's interviews? He is the first one to tell you that he needs to improve, and where he needs to improve, and how he is working to improve.
AJ's bad games, in my opinion, are in large part from him trying to do too much, trying too hard to get his team-mates in the friggin' game - eg, 5 TO's in the first half GMU snoozer.
OT tells you that I am not the brightest bulb in the group; so maybe '70 can enlighten me on how, as a PG, you get 57 rebounds, 6 blocks, 15 steals in 10 games if you have no interest in playing D.
