Had a Goal Club committee meeting tonight, and came away with some stuff. Super was also there and can fill in any blanks of note.
1. Yes, the arena is still happening, though the cost and timeline have not been finalized. Stay tuned--and get your checkbooks ready. I will also be setting up a separate thread for arena updates--anything arena-related will go into this sticky thread.
2. The schedule and roster should be on the site by tomorrow. Re the roster, though, well, let's just say it's still possible we add someone. For the schedule, it will come with the caveats that the Florida Gulf Coast date is still TBD, and we still need to add one more OOC game. This game will be a local game but not against a power. Stay tuned.
3. Said hello to Dublin, Bebis and Laury tonight. Dublin is every bit of 6-6 and cut like an SOB. Bebis is probably 6-7, but thin as a rail. Laury seems slimmer.
Super, anything else?

Thanks for the report Guy, but now I am going to have to stalk all of the hoops writers twitter accounts this week to see any possible rumors on anybody coming to Iona..lol. Hope TC and staff can pull off a late surprise.

Guy, thanks. Surprised to hear that Bebis was very thin. I remember watching his highlight video and he seemed to be fairly broad. The Czech kid, who has gone Juco, looked like the thin one. I'll have to find Bebis' video and watch again. Since he'll play guard (I'm guessing) being thin should add to his quickness. And guessing, once again, I think that St. Francis might now be on the schedule.

Just re-watched Bebis' video, and thin he is. He'll, along with Casimir, give us a Mutt and Jeff frosh backcourt.

Not much to add to Guy's comments. Bebis can shoot--loves the automatic feed machine where he can take "1000 shots a day." We're going to love Casimir! Arena will be built entirely through philanthropy. Get ready guy$$$$$. I don't expect we'll see shovels in the ground until winter 2015 at the very earliest. No specific timeline has yet been established. We'll probably know more in December. Lots of concern about likely changes to NCAA structure. Our APR should be great. Mike Glover came back this summer and graduated. That should be an important message to current & future players. Anyone here who is interested in active involvement in the Goal Club leadership should PM Guy or me.

As an older guy (not old) who has three active kids and lives a couple of hours away I am ready to contribute by opening up the wallet. Young students/alums - open up your hearts. Embrace the men's and women's hoops teams!!! Embrace Iona athletics!!! Hoop players, embrace the students!! Back each other up - make Hynes an awful place for an opponent. Do creative, clever stuff. Have fun!!! Love it. LOVE IT!!! Let's GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!111!!

Casimir is a very exciting player to watch and is always a huge crowd favorite. Here is an example of a scouting report regarding his play.
"The crowd favorite of the event was undoubtedly Schadrac Casimir, who put on a show for the 20-plus in attendance that came out to see him play. Every time that the speedy guard would get the ball, you’d have people standing up and rightfully so—since he did hang 36 points on Brewster. Casimir simply scored the ball with ease, whether it be via deep jumpers or tough takes to the lane". - 2013 National Prep Showcase

Casimir is going to make an impact this year. Saw him play couple of years ago at Trinity Catholic. I am wondering about Guy's post of a possible addition to the roster. Would imagine it would have to be within a week if it happens at all. Do any of the guys with inside info think its realistic?

Would imagine it would have to be within a week if it happens at all. Do any of the guys with inside info think its realistic? I would tend to believe that the roster is set and that we will most likely not have another addition. I think we should hold the scholarship to use on a mid year impact transfer or a recruit in the next cycle. We do not need bodies. I, personally, do not know of any JUCO's or immediately available transfers that could help us this year. So why waste the scholarship?

Agreed I86, unless a player can come in and make an impact, I prefer to hold the scholarship for the '15 class. That would give us 3 open slots, which are very important, as it seems some programs in the MAAC have kicked it up a notch in recruiting. Plus it looks like the staff is involved with a lot of quality recruits for '15, so rather have 3 slots instead of 2.

They expect him to be cleared by doctors this week for full practice. He is in great shape. Robinson still not cleared.
Casimir is lightning quick, fearless and is a vg shooter.
