Finally! Maybe this is a sign that we turned the corner on getting the local talent coming out of high school. If the program continues it's winning ways and the local talent plays all is good. Will be interesting to hear Rickey's reason for choosing Iona over Manhattan. In Cluess and Grasso we trust!

Ricky McGill 6'2" Combo guard. Can run the point and can shoot his ass off. He has the ability to take over a game but always plays smart and smooth. In AAU he went head to head and easily matched Syracuse Top 100 Caleb Joseph and outplayed Paul Jorgensen,(George Washington incoming frosh and new street ball star known as Prince Harry of Harlem). He is a tough kid who steps up to any challenge. Can shoot the three, drive to the hoop or make a sweet pass. Very unselfish... IMHO was a top five player in Rockland and Westchester since he was a soph. Was also offered by Drexel and LaSalle. Averaged 10.1 points a game last season. Was a lower Hudson Basketball Coaches Association First team All Section selection. I hope we get him inked the first five minutes of signing period because he will be getting many A10 level offers. He wants to play close to home so I doubt he will break this commitment. Oh... and he has a cute aunt. I look forward to seeing her at the games.

What's important, to me, with this commitment, is that it IMPROVES the chances that the Kai Mitchell verbal sticks. From watching the two video snippets, I'm not sure whether his future is as an OG or PG, but I'm sure that TC/JG have already figured that one out. What do you think, 86?

Braziller from the post tweeted good pick up if he qualifies. His qualifying is not only important to get him but also for Mitchell in 16.

Apparently Grasso was the point on recruiting McGill via Adam Zagoria's twitter. Coach Masiello must be disappointed, but he had to know after his situation that he would lose some of his recruits. Is the Zach Braziller tweet about qualifying from someone at Manhattan? Sour grapes? Sure does sounds like it. Pretty sure the staff would take a hard look at his chances of qualifying during the recruiting process. Short little summary on Zag's blog zagsblog.com/articles/former-manhattan-pledge-rickey-mcgill-to-iona/ . Once again no smoke and mirrors just being completely above board the program picks up a quality recruit. Firm believer in that we get what we deserve. So far no drama and no problems with the recruits. Welcome aboard to Rickey McGill.

And can we offer Heidi Klum's nephew?

The series of tweets from Zach Braziller on twitter.com/NYPost_Brazille are pretty funny. Go to Zach Braziller's twitter page and click on the tweets about Rickey McGill to look at the conversations he had with our GuyF and Iona86. Glad they called him out. Unbiased reporting?
