SID........ Practice starts tomorrow and runs to Nov. 13th the day before 1st game...Players are allowed 1 day off a week leaving if I remember right 36 practice days..... These same problems arise every year...There is at least 25 loyal, longtime fans who are anxious to attend some of these sessions to familiarize with team before season starts...We understand the reason for some private practices, but we have problems as to when and if we will be allowed and estimated times they will be held... Some sort of fan schedule as the majority of schools have would be appreciated...This would alleviate the guessing and speculation that causes useless trips, time better spent, and depending upon scattered and misleading info... In visiting many team sites I have found it is common practice for such information to be posted on their websites.. As Sports information director we plea for your help.....Thanks for your attention both past and hopefully in the future.....

I'm still hoping to hear what's happening with the traditional Meet The Gaels scrimmage on Homecoming Saturday, 10/18.
Is this still on or what???

Well that's really too bad if its true. Always thought of it like baseballs spring training - jump starts the flow of college hoops blood. Sid, what's the deal here?

This is not the way to build interest and excitement for the team. Lack of promoting will hurt ticket sales among other things. I think the coaches and admin will be in for some tough questions on Meet the Coaches night on the 23rd.

A semi-related post. SID, the new format on ICGaels.com is great, and I'm assuming you had something to do with it. Congrats.

The lack of response smacks of a arrogance that disparages the loyal and deserving fans of Iona Basketball...I fervently urge any in position to respond, to do so or give reason why it so resisted....
I gave what I thought might be a reasonable reason in prior posts...(A temporary shortage of available players)...If that is the reason, then a simple post such as ''It has been decided to cancel this years ''Meet the Gails day" followed by dates and time fans would be welcome to attend practices would suffice...That would satisfy the intelligent curiosity of the reasoned fans...

Or maybe Beyrer is just busy.[/quote] Guy.....That to me is a often used excuse when in reality it is a fallacy...The answer I gave as example took me about 5 minutes to compile and post...The entire subject has been a thorn for years... IMO there are other reasons for the shameful lack of response...Sid has always been most attentive to my questions and needs, I infer no reflection or blame on him..... Still waiting for your yearly predictions...

And by my count, at least 5 Iona athletic teams played today.

OT, still holding out hope for Meet the Gaels. But any day you want to roll down to the HAC, I'm sure you'd be welcome. To be certain send TC an e-mail. His address is: tcluess@iona.edu "Coach, I'd like to roll down to the gym tomorrow and watch practice, if that's okay? Of course, that's if the weather cooperates. What time do you practice? If this presents a problem let me know. Thanks, TP" Or something like that.

OT, I'm going to be away tomorrow and Tuesday, leaf peeking in Vermont, but when I return I'd be interested in joining you at practice. Based on Rothstein's tweets, I'm guessing that on Mondays they start about noon. If you do go over tomorrow, try to get the times and if I'm not working (driving the grandkids) I'm on.

Loved Vermont, especially Golfing trips this time of year with beautiful foliage viewing...Those pancakes with Vermont syrup early in the morning before teeing off were not bad either........Have a good trip.......
