Siena will disappoint... This will be Patso's last year... Canisius will be the surprise of the year... Niagara will actually win a few games... Rider will defeat Iona at Rider... Iona will not be so foolish to build for the sake of vanity and add only a few hundred seats... Casimir dark horse 'Player of the year'

1) The new 30 second clock has the opposite effect on scoring in college basketball, because the referees do not stay consistent to the points of emphasis regarding physicality on defense. Manhattan and St. Peters in the MAAC Tournament take full advantage by forcing more turnovers as team race against the clock to get off shots. (I pray I am wrong and the officiating actually make the calls all season long vs just the OOC portion of the schedule.) 2) The new MAAC Tournament format does not assist the top teams. See above. 3) The referees make the calls as the rules intend and put the "whining" head coaches in their places. (Not a chance on this one, better chance of winning Powerball)

Casimir dark horse 'Player of the year' I like the prediction on Sed, I feel he is going to either take a small step forward and avg 17 or so a game or explode into a player of the year type player, I can see either one, hopefully the latter. If teams can't focus on stopping him due to Iona simply having too many weapons, this kid is going to average 4 threes a game and with his free throw ability you are looking at one of the top scorers in the nation, I think this is more likely than a small step forward.

Not sure if it will be a surprise, but I think we'll know if AJ is a lock for POY after only the first couple of OOC games. And I don't mean Iona games, because I know how good AJ is but there is a guy that I don't know much about, but have heard from one of his fans that he is a great talent. And that guy is Monmouth's Je'lon Hornbeak. He transferred from Oklahoma and according to a very knowledgeable Hawk fan, the father of a player, he says that is the real deal. And b/t/w, the guy who told me this (and other Gael fans at last year's MAAC tourney) is not his father. I believe Monmouth opens against USC and UCLA, so I'll be checking their boxscores to see how Hornbeak performed. We all know that they have a great PG, Robinson, who looks for his own shot first, so I'm not sure how the two will mesh. Media (Ryan Restivo) opts that the Hawks are the deepest team in the MAAC. We'll see.

We'll see. It will be interesting 59. Hornbeak was beat out by fellow freshman Buddy Hield early on. Hield is now a senior and an NBA prospect. We will see if Hornbeck has fixed his shooting issues (especially from 3). He is definitely a quality higher tier player and should do well in the MAAC.

My surprise/guess is that KA won't start, but will come off the bench as a Super Sub. This assumes: 1. CC can play PG. 2. TC can go with a big team, starting Bessick and Washington.
As a Super Sub, KA can sub at the one, two, three and four.

Don't think that CC will score more this year. If we are a deeper team that should mean less PT for everyone. And if CC plays PG, his scoring might actually decrease as he looks to get others involved. Of course that could change if he's a shoot first type of PG, like Monmouth's Robinson. And you can throw both asumptiions away if TC ends up with a 7-8 man rotation.
