3.5 GPA and 21hour credit load. Sounds like me when I was at Iona, except I had a 1.5 (the.5 was the same) and 12 hours. But I had to spend another 10 hours at the Drake learning how to play shuffleboard. Pretty much like me, when I think about it.[/quote IC59... In looking over various team sites I am once again shocked by the views of the majority of posters... Their general tone of ''I hope it turns out alright for the kids, and they can play'' is twisted logic...There is little doubt they were also complicit, and if investigation reveals it to be so they should be punished accordingly... Agree. Unfortunately, this happens time and time again. Here at a Community College trying to give kids and adults a chance to better themselves, Disgusting.

I would imagine academic credentials for all students are handled entirely by the Admissions Department. I guess when a name on a transcript is in print vs. signature, a redlight goes off for during the review process. A second little birdie has told me this is one of the glaring problems with these transcripts.

A second little birdie has told me this is one of the glaring problems with these transcripts. No integrity for any school that signed these kids. They just fed the system.and ultimately it was the kids who paid the price. But they are not blameless either as they were looking for shortcuts. Nothing wrong with looking for shortcuts if they are ethical shortcuts. I remember Machado attributing a TC quote something to the effect " The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary". We are so lucky to have TC. And so are the kids who have played for him.

Just read the St. John's board and it seems that 100% of the posters are jumping ship. Half because of Keith Thomas and half because of the team's performance against Humboldt State, yesterday. The third half are standing pat. One poster did state that TC was a great recruiter but a terrible 'game' coach. I believe he might have said that in response to a post that wanted SJU to hire him.

I hate that kids get exploited by the system, (1 year scholarships, etc.) but this is a case where kids are trying to beat the system. Couldn't agree with you more OT, these kids get what they deserve. I do hope they find a way to turn around their lives and understand the value in education and work. Unfortunately, following some of the tweets they seem to immediately go into victim mode. Sad.

These kids were disappointed when they realized they would not be eligible to play Div 1 ball coming out of high school due to academics. How do they respond... by trying to cut corners in JUCO. These kids are obviously too stupid or too lazy for college if they could not pass courses at WCC. Thomas is 23 years old for the love of God. When they refuse to learn from their mistakes they are destined to repeat them.

The whole mess is sad. The students who have successfully completed their studies at WCC are now tainted by this scandal. I hope those that perpetrated this whole thing pay legal consequences.

Many people have opinions on this subject, but it seems that we are beating a dead horse and should move on. Remember it's TEN DAYS to the start of the season for Iona. Just a suggestion, and I'm sure that there will be more written on this subject and maybe even some that will matter, but I'm looking forward to real BB news. For instance I've seen a tweet on the official Iona site, that shows a picture of Scott Machado on a BB magazine cover. Does anyone know what that is all about?

Dickie V likes Iona! The start of the season is almost here. I cannot wait to tip it off, baby! I have had enough time off from the hardwood, it is time to get going and call games!
The start of the 2014-15 season is rapidly approaching. I cannot wait to call my first game, Michigan State vs. Duke.
For the last couple of weeks, I have had people come up to me at different times and ask about teams I liked to win different conferences. Let me give you my list of teams that I believe will get to the big dance as conference tournament champions (except for the IVY, which rewards the regular-season winner.
Here we go, baby!

Ctbill, I'm not TELLING anyone what to post or not post. I'm just expressing MY HOPE what people will post or not post. If it were up to me I'd opt for more news and less views. Bot, as we all know, it's not up to me. So needless to say when I see Iona 86, Super, EPat (he has newswire access) or Guy, when he has news from an Iona source I click pretty quickly. Or if you prefer, a quick click.

Arkansas considered by some to be a top 25 team. Umass solid A-10 team. Add Wake Forest, Indiana St. and Drexel. could this be Iona's toughest OOC in the TC era?
