And for the life of me why weren't the St. John's and Fordham games against D-2 opponents exhibitions? Are they seriously that hard up for "wins?" Yes !! I was following the scores of the MAAC, St. John's and Fordham games on Bleacher Report while at our game last night. No Fordham game on the ticker. Funny given how much coverage BR gives them via their schill Costello. Maybe they're embarrassed given the Div 2 nature of NYIT. But on their board they're 1-0 with Penn State tomorrow. Looks like Paschall is the real deal which is no surprise to this board. Severe coming back tomorrow

The team Fordham played is D2, and their fans are thrilled with their show of dominance against a weak D2 team. And this was not an exhibition; Fordham desperately needs wins and will apparently schedule D2 teams to get them. The real issue is why the Post had an article about that farce and ignored a game between Iona and another top 100 team. That just speaks to how legitimate the post's college hoops coverage is. Put it this way if I'm looking to educate myself on college basketball I'm not going to the Post If I want to read a story about Fordham's old gym, or Steve Lavin's Italian grandma, then I'll go to the Post. Or Keady's comb over haircut...

If NYIT is DIV II, then the NCAA doesn't recognize the game, though the individual players' stats might count. But I'm sure that NJIT is DIV I, as they moved up a few years back. So I'm guessing that the win won't help their 'at large' chances. But you have give the Fordham fans credit, as they have their team at 6-0. Seems that, in addition to NYIT, they won an exhibition game, and four games in Canada, last summer.

Games against D-2 teams count toward a team's overall w/l record, but do not factor into RPI. A good A-10 team in a game that matters (non-exhibition) should beat a midling D-2 team by 40.

Just now saw Amayo's block (thanks, Super). Damn! For you old timers, how does it compare with great Iona blocks you've seen?

qs, it's right up there as a great block, but to be fair I don't remember many of them. As you know that's what happens when you get old.

Iona just changed the official stats from last night--they inadvertently credited IW with a 3 that Casimir had. So Casimir scores 20 in his debut.

Just saw that and it's funny because I thought he had more points, and even better debut than we thought. By the way IW had a block just as good as Amayo, not sure why it didn't get the same reaction.

On the telecast Gary Stanley mentioned with 4 seconds to go that Casimir's free throws were for his 19th and 20th points. Pretty amazing start for a frosh. In the post game interview he was like a rock star as people were shaking his hand and waving to him. Pretty cool!

Maybe my memory is better than I thought, as I had Cedric for 20 and IW for 15. And OT, I do remember Troy Truesdale very well but my best memory of him was in the first MAAC final and it was his put back dunk of a missed shot (by Rory Grimes?) to either win the game or send it to OT. We did win the game and the first MAAC championship. And while Troy was probably our best leaper it was his dunks rather than blocks that I remember.
