Didn't realize the transfer was eligible this year. Would be a great pick up and the Cluess machine would keep on rolling.

Anyone have any ideas on who it could be? Whittington is the only one who fits the description:
1. High profile 2. From big conference 3. Eligible this season 4. Impact player 5. Big 6. Uncertainty of years remaining of eligibility

Anyone with a source? High-profile transfer forward who would be eligible this season. This is one of the few kids who fits the description. He was declared ineligible at Georgetown.

Uncertainty of years remaining of eligibility I don;t know if that was the description. The post by I59 was: "and we hope that we might land a December transfer, a Big. That would leave us with one scholarship for the Spring. When asked, what position, I was told a starter. Position not that important. We'll see." So we have: 1) A starter 2) A big 3) A transfer Nothing about High profile, eligible this season or from a big conference... though I would like it if the player does have those attributes.

At MTG I was told that a mid-year transfer was a possibility, but I never got the impression that he would not have to sit out a year. And I have no idea whether we are involved with anyone who would be described as high profile.

Hope I am wrong but I doubt Whittington is coming to Iona. Spoke to an AAU coach from Baltimore, who actually coached him for a limited time. While he really hoped Whittington would go back to school, he would be very surprised as Whittington is allergic to classrooms and just refuses to go to class. very talented player but just hates school. Like epatrick posted he was ruled ineligible at Georgetown

My guess would be, and I mean a wild guess.......
Cam Biedscheid - 6'7"SF who averaged 6.2 points and 1.4 rebounds as a freshman at Notre Dame and then transferred to Missouri and then left the program. Was an ESPN Top 100 (64th) player coming out of high school with a grade of 93. Great athlete that can handle the ball, pass, shoot the jumper and likes to run. Committed to ND early his junior year but had looks from Indiana, Illinois, Butler, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota, UNLV, Saint Louis and Miami.

It's easy to see why this kid was rated so highly. He is a nifty ball handler, with slick (or sick) moves, hard to defend, able to drive to the hoop and finish or score from outside, and also will pass the rock off to teammates. I doubt we will end up with him, but he would be a beast in the MAAC, and imagining him and IW on the wings is a scary thought.

Another possibility is Sammis Reyes (We are in contact) who just got his release from Hawaii. He is 6'7" and 240lbs Freshman. He was recruited by BYU, Fairfield, Fordham, Long Beach State, Texas Tech, Wichita State and Ohio Plays internationally for Chile. He has the body to play PF and the athleticism to play SG or SF. Reportedly benches 325 pounds. Reyes averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and four assists during his senior season at North Broward Prep in Coconut Grove, Fl. He can shoot the three, passes as well as anyone, plays above the rim and loves to block shots. This kid throws down some powerful dunks. Here is some video:
Give me McGill, Biedscheid and Reyes for this recruiting cycle and I will be thrilled. Especially of we get Reyes and Biedscheid on campus for a few months ahead of next season to get settled in and used to Cluess system. A team of the following would be very hard to beat in the MAAC:
PG - Casimir, Muhammad, McGill SG/SF - English, Williams, Amayo, Ellis, Biedscheid and Bebis SF/PF - Bessick, Reyes PF - Hines C - Robinson

Jammir Hanner 6 8 220 was at Marshall with Issiah and Kelvin.Just left Buffalo. Hanner is very athletic. He had committed to Seton Hall but backed off when Gonzo got canned. Also played at Nia Prep where Laury played. He sat a year after paying two. He might only qualify for one more year. He is also 23 years old. He can run the floor, is quick and can handle the ball.
