Close but no cigar as St. Peter's loses at Hartford 51-50. Ugh, at least that was on the road. UMASS is playing right now on NESN against BC. I'm going to try to catch some of it.

UMass looked pretty scary in winning on the road at Boston College 71-62. The Minutemen have speed and a strong inside game, which caused a lot of fouls to be called against BC. They only attempted three 3 pointers the entire game (and made none of them). They will be a formidable opponent in their building.

They have some length that is hard to deal with. Hinds was in and pushing it. Very aggressive attacking team.

Catching some of Fordham v. Penn State. Penn St. up 28-16. Neither team looks like they know what to do on offense.

Must be something wrong with me, but I'm loving watching this Fordham game. LOL Pascall fouls out with 10 minutes left. Kid trying to do too much. Excellent talent. No help from anyone else. Fordham will beat some of the cupcakes on their schedule due to pure athleticism. Once they start A-10 play at 0-6 he might realize he's pushing a huge boulder up that hill.

At one point Fordham did not in over 8 minutes make a point...Coach Pecora stood at the sidelines like a cigar store Indian without making a move or change of any kind...As another errant pass went out of bounds, the announcers had the following conversation.....''What is Fordham trying to do'' The other answered ''I don't know exactly, I would call it a NO PURPOSE OFFENSE''. No further description would fit Fordham better...I was mad at myself for not using it prior.... Severe is a not very good 'chucker'...He must have been spoiled rotten by his coach in High School... While I was typing this post, the score is now 67-43......

Fordham lost to Penn State 73-54. Rams shot 29.3% and Severe was 0-5 off the bench.
Arkansas pulled away in the second half to easily defeat Alabama State 97-79.

Severe is a vg scorer but not much else. Coming off a suspension he just looked really rusty to me. Their new PG looks like a nice player, but based on athleticism I'd say a Patriot League PG. That's not to disparage the kid, but I think he's going to struggle in A-10 play. Rhoomes I like. Always plays hard. Good size. Serviceable big. Apart from that don't really know what they have. A cast of decent to nice players. I think Penn St. is a good defensive team; average at best offensively. I think they did a nice job of disrupting Fordham's offense, but really I've seen Fordham a lot and I don't really ever see the ability much to get to the rim and then kick out for the open j. Its just mostly passing around the perimeter and either hoisting up a shot to early or too late in the shot clock or trying to penetrate late and running into a wall. I just don't see a lot of craftiness getting to the rim. I think that's talent more than coaching, but a good coach needs to realize what he has and adjust to put his team in a position to win. I don't see Pecora coaching to his talent. Maybe he only knows one way to play and just hasn't been able to get enough guys who can play that way effectively. I think if you gave Masiello that team he'd find a way to win games. If you gave John Dunne the Fordham job I think he's a perfect fit.

If John Dunne wants the Fordham job, or any other "up" job, he better get the Peacocks better in a hurry. This is supposed to be their year, and they are now, 0-2. The good news for SPU, is that it's early. Very early.

There is no way Iona will be favored by that much at Wofford. I'm not even sure we should be favored at all. Huh.
