Sorry, but I'm siding with Bill on this one. OT is OTM (off the mark).

epatrick, trying to figure out if there was something to decipher in that story In OT's post? Nothing to decipher. His post was right on. As a former journalist, I know well the plight of newspapers struggling to survive. In their struggles, they make decisions of what to cover (possibly, one basketball team over another in sports.) On the business news front, they might put an arbitrary minimum dollar value on mergers or acquisitions they cover. Today, it seems, more newspapers are blurring the lines between news and editorials. First amendment rights are being threatened not by the government, per se, but by the media who encourage minimizing and mocking minority or dissenting views. The postings here evolved from how newspapers choose to cover basketball programs to OT's insightful statement. No, nothing to decipher.

Oh I agree outlets like MSNBC and Fox news carry a clear bias and its pretty much articulated up front and is part of their business model. The reason we don't get more coverage IMO is our small fan base not a bias against us. If 10000 people read about SJ and 25000 people read about us we'll get more coverage. The casual fan cares about us when we're David playing Goliath, I.e. in the NCAA Tournament, not when we're beating up the MAAC. And I agree NYC is primarily a Pro Town. So they cover what the majority of people want to read, to sell more content.

It takes something very special to get noticed due to our location and size.

Fordham drops a one point game at home to URI, 64-63. And just about every poster on the Fordham board attributes the loss to poor coaching by Tom Pecora. But I think one poster said that the game might not have been that close if Rhode Island hadn't shot 11-27 from the foul line. About 1600 attended and the crowd was described as being very into the game (Rose Hill was rocking). I can't imagine what it must be like to be a Ram fan. And my hope is that FU NEVER comes back to the MAAC. At one time they were pretty good, and we had some great games against them. But those times are in the past. The distant past.

My son's rec team does better than that.
