The only "official" RPI is the one the NCAA releases every Monday.
There are several RPI sites out there, and all claim to use the official formula, yet their numbers are different. I like LiveRPI because it's constantly updating, like every few minutes. But officially, it's what the NCAA site has on Mondays.
And though most would agree Pomeroy is a much better system, the NCAA still uses RPI primarily. I'm sure they still glance at Pomeroy, but I have not heard the committee actually admit that. In Pomeroy, St John's is a good 40 points up on us, which is laughable. If you want to say RPI is a bit silly and that we are really not better than St John's, that's fine. But in no scenario, in no ratings system, is St John's 40 spots ahead of us.
If the teams were to play a neutral site game tonight, I'd make St John's about a 4-point favorite.

Posted about Rpis on another thread before I saw your earlier post. I would take iona and the 4 in a heartbeat, think right now it would be 2. Only negative on St. John's downturn is we could lose cluess.

Hmm. Kinda kills the point of all those other sites, though I do like the additional numbers LiveRPI provides.

Dayton is 8-2 I think in the A-10 since going small.

Hmm. Kinda kills the point of all those other sites, though I do like the additional numbers LiveRPI provides. Research has been tremendously easier this year... Although the major sites update stats in the middle of the night, the NCAA's is usually up to date by noon. They rely on institutions to send the stats file to them individually and if someone happens to be late, the process of compiling cannot begin (and it's about a 90-120 minute process to compile once all data is set). The major sites (ESPN, CBS, etc) all have a stat service they use (Stats, Inc., ESPN Data Group, etc.)

Monmouth over Fairfield, they just keep on winning. Seem to be the second best team in the Maac and will be the best if they knock us off at Hynes. Despite many saying it was a horrible loss, that loss in December not so bad after all and we probably should have won. They showed they can play when they lost tough battles at West Virginia and at Maryland, they are our biggest contender.
Edit- guy on Fairfield hits a meaningless 75 footer at the buzzer and Fairfield loses by one, espn idiots pull away from shot so it won't make any highlights, if Monmouth had missed their last free throw that would have tied it. By the way continue to be amazed at how boring Doug Sherman is, who made him the voice of the Maac, if he was any good he wouldn't be the voice of the Maac anymore, this league needs someone more exciting, I use his voice to put me to sleep when I am having trouble sleeping, Gus Johnson he is not!
