Terrible job by the BE to only get 1 team out of the first weekend, but fact remains it's one of the best leagues in the country. I agree with both statements, they are better than what they showed this weekend

05, why is it a FACT that the BE is one of the top conferences in the country? Is perception, reality? Possibly, and that MIGHT be the reason that at one time (January??) SJU was ranked #14 and SH #23. Both were, imo, the result of Fox Sports hyping the BE. I think, at the time, most posters on this board weren't fooled. And I don't mean Tau and Tiger, because they are fans of BE schools so I'd expect them to hype the league. Now if you mean that the BE is a Top 10 conference, I'd agree, but didn't think that they deserved six bids.

The BE has the 2nd best conference RPI in the country. Not claiming it is the 2nd best conference, but certainly think it is top 5. www.rpiforecast.com/live-conf-rpi.htmlWhat are you putting ahead of the BE other than ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten? SEC, Pac 12?

I also can't stand when media types use performance in the NCAAs to trash or celebrate a conference. It's all about matchups/seeds etc. If one league just gets unlucky and has a bunch of bad matchups and loses more than it should, it doesn't mean it was a weaker league. It's just too small a sample size.

Well that settles it. 05 posts something and 70 agrees with it, thus making it official. (SF)

Yeah, it's just too small. A better discussion would be which leagues have been strongest since realignment, which at least incorporates multiple years of NCAA tournaments into the discussion. It's still not perfect, but it's better.

At the end of the day all that should matter to us is where the MAAC ranks in national conferences. And unfortunately it's pretty pitiful right now.

We had this discussion on the MAAC board--many expect the league to stay where it is. I don't. Top 15 RPI for the MAAC next year.
