SID, I had to travel and decided to watch the game on Iona Insider. On my iPad. Which is still not possible on Iona Insider. Really, WTF? We have enough trouble with media access, let's not make it worse by remaining in the dark ages technologically.

What percentage of MAAC programs can you watch their games on the iPad? Seriously, I have no idea.

Sure, no one uses iPads. Can't give the things away I hear.
Sarcasm aside, iPads are a hugely popular platform and I can watch ESPN on it easily. Could it be that hard?
Anyway, we won, and that's great.

Tonight's production value seemed quite lame. I keep waiting for someone in management there to insist on more professionalism. Glad no one witnessed me trying to watch the game tonight. It was quite sloppy and low budget. I am sure the ESPN2, U and 3, games will run smoother. Makes me feel the new Hynes Center may never happen or be a decade further down the road.

Anyway, we won, and that's great. ESPN has more money than Iona does, and infinitely more viewers. That's why I asked the MAAC question. If 9 MAAC schools have the technology, then I am in full agreement. If 2 do, then, well, maybe give it another year. I barely use my tablet. My laptop is faster and doesn't have such restrictions.

Second post comparing Iona to ESPN. Apparently this is a lost cause.

I have no idea whether the other MAAC schools are viewable on the iPad. No way to tell whether this is a cost issue or a lack of attention. I do know that tablet sales are skyrocketing past laptop sales, and iPads are a huge part of that. So if MAAC programs want to stay relevant in terms of media exposure they will need to address this.

Though I am addicted to chess on the computer!

C'mon you guys; this is a student run production. I think they are doing great. Getting better with every outing.

One comment... Please stop running commercials when they are singing the national anthem. Find the commercial space elsewhere in the production. Running commercials during the singing of the anthem lacks class and is disrespectful IMHO.

A couple comments.
- All home games actually can be watched on an iPad, iPhone or any Android device. Download the app. Go to the respective App store and search "Iona Gaels". Video is not available on a mobile device through the browser via Neulion's platform. Any live event listed on the IonaInsider.com live events tab listed as HD are available via the app. Although I didn't get a chance to personally check it tonight, I know several folks including my parents, and Coach Grasso's mother that watched this way. Feel free to shoot me an email and I'll give you my cell phone number and I can help walk you through it if you like.
- In regards to the audio, our commentators are broadcasting for "radio" and not the video, so the action is described as such. Commercials during the national anthem are played because of this fact.
- Guy, most of the MAAC schools (and conference office) on the Neulion network (aka MAAC.tv) broadcast via the app on mobile devices now. We are now able to as a result of the scoreboard project.

I'll start by admitting that I know nothing, or next to nothing, about computers, laptops or desktops. Fortunately, my daughter solves my 'problems' when it comes to computers. However, Guy brings up the argument of laptops vs. iPads. And the only argument I can make for iPads (my wife has one) is that they are much lighter if you are traveling. I've been told by a friend that you can watch the ESPN3 games on TV's by running a cable from your computer to your tv. But I also remember reading, though I don't remember the specifics, that there is a piece of equipment that you can add to your computer or to your TV that will enable you to watch the ESPN3 games on your Tv's. Can anyone give out the specifics? Thanks.
P.S. I, like everyone else, loved the new scoreboards. But that doesn't mean that there are things that could be improved. I had trouble 'reading' two things: 1. Team fouls. 2. TOL. I realize they were there, but just too small for my old eyes to see them. Hopefully the 'print' can be enlarged.
