[Cant remember when the Gaels looked this bad. [/quote] This why I have not made a sport bet in over 30 years........... Looked like a very tired bunch in 2nd half...Combined that with a team possessed and a great and enthusiastic crowd behind, you get beat..... Cluess shows signs of having his eye on it being a long season and wants to get everybody ready with playing time...Was at time some very odd looking combo's out there... I hope they don't come home and if schooling allows take a very nice bus ride to Wake Forest, relax a couple of days down there and be ready to once again be the confident Gails we know...... We all are a little 'Basketball' down right now, but compared to what 'bubble burst' Siena fans, and their suicidal fans feel we should be a thankful bunch........''Time heals all wounds''

Some takeaways for me: --IW needs more than 12 shots in 2 games (Do like the way he is taking charge on the court--directing traffic--calling huddles, etc.) --Defensive rebounding a total mess--know we run out--but they had 3 consecutive 2nd chance baskets at around 11 minutes which turned the game around --Not many 3s taken in 2nd half--credit Wofford --Not sure how much I like DL falling in love with the jumper--trying to do too much --AJ is some player --Amayo is rusty --Must be frustrating to coach Ellis--so much talent--so little basketball savvy --Hines did not show much, given the opportunity he had Hoped we would win this one, but projected it as a loss. We opened against 2 tough, veteran teams. Good post Super!

Open perimeter shooting coupled with no defensive rebounding was killer today. Everyone has to step up to the defensive intensity/focus Isaiah Williams has to have effective team D. Outside of the Big 3 Iona was aggressive in short spurts in the first half and then pretty tentative the remainder of the way. Kelvin Amayo appeared tentative on O and D with reach-ins instead of moving his feet. Bad body language in second half when trailing. Staff will have team look closely at film of second half pointing out the issues to prepare for Wake Forest. AJ, David and Isaiah will need to provide vocal leadership on the floor to help their teammates. With David Laury's developing outside shot and ability to put the ball on the floor I would like to see some more high post against Wake to pull height away from the rim. Assuming Cluess will emphasize quicker ball movement and less dribbling to get open looks. I know it is early and this is the part of schedule where the staff finds out who can contribute to be ready for conference play. With all the new faces and players without significant meaningful game experience we have to be patient. Optimistic that the team will get it together, but there will be uneven games early in the season. Looking forward to Friday and Wake Forest. GO GAELS!

I'm more concerned about a few of you guys sounding like Siena fans than I am about Cluess or this team.

Observations:
1). Clearly in the second half Iona was totally out of sorts. Body language showed fatigue and dejection. 2). Credit should be given to Wofford for playing a 40 minute game and showing they can play uptempo and in a half court set. They shot lights out. 3). Wile I was please that TC played a deep bench, clearly when the opponent outscores us 18-1 in 2nd chance points, rebounding has me concerned. 4). Wile we were strong from the foul line in the 1st half, we struggled in the 2nd and left some points on the table. 5). Agree as many have said that the team needs to look more for IW (both on screens at the perimeter and cuts to the basket). 6). It's only one game and a strong effort against Wake will get us back on track.

Same story as always, we are a one trick pony, its a good trick when the other team can't stay with us but when they adjust we usually don't have answers!! The 7am excuse is ridiculous, pretty sure Wofford was playing at 7am also

We started the season playing 2 teams that I think are better than anyone we'll play in the MAAC. I'm disappointed in the 2nd half breakdown, but losing to Wofford won't hurt our RPI. I think Wofford will win a lot of games.
I liked the depth in the 1st half for Iona. Loved Ellis' offense. Can't say the same for his D, but then the D really broke down in general in the 2nd half anyway. Maybe hide Ellis in a zone when he is in the game? His shooting on kickouts from Laury could really help us if when can get him to the point where his D is better. Didn't think the staff or team adjusted at all to what was happening in the 2nd half.
Disappointed that Hinds didn't show much in a good stretch of playing time. We really need him to rebound when he is in the game.
I'm optimistic about the season.

No ball movement by Iona in the second half. all of the one on one stuff was on the perimeter, and Wofford made sure it stayed there. I am surprised that Dublin was not in there in the second half. The high/low (DL to Dublin)would have been interesting in the second half, but all our guys were on the perimeter. Plus we desperately needed rebounding, and DL had to play a little cautiously with three fouls. We need ball movement; we need our assists!

That was an awful and embarrssing second half. Lots to say but awful and embarrassing is enough, try to forget and move on for now.
I also see now I am going to be known for the Sed 2,000+ prediction as well as buzzer beaters. I am now predicting he gets his 2,000 point on a buzzer beater! I am going to try to limit my mentioning of either one going foward.
Back to the game: U-G-L-Y!

Wofford made adjustments to take away the 3, which led to Laury and English driving practically every possession. Expect to see more of this approach against us this year. Iona needs to do more to free guys up.

Not sure if I said this earlier but I do like that Cluess used more guys today. However, I think he should have come back with Dublin. Iona needed some sort of spark. Ellis was one for a while. Amayo just wasn't in it. Hines wasn't producing, so Dublin should have gotten a chance.
