Watched the second half again and it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. Iona basically went cold from the 12 minute mark to the 4 minute mark and they got hot. A key point was a Wofford guy threw a brick 3 and it went in and IW had a wide open 3 go in an out, that was a big part of the game. It may just be a coincidence but that 8 minute collapse was the same 8 minutes Iona blew a 20 point lead Friday night. Didn't matter but how did the refs miss the goaltending against Laury? Final thought Dublin coming out after starting and never getting back in had to be a disciplinary thing, wonder what he did? You get unbelievable credit for watching the second half again. I deleted it as fast as possible.

If nothing else today's game showed that this team is a work in progress. I understand the comments of expecting a bounce back performance Friday night and let's see how the team responds, but being realistic Wake Forest and North Texas look to be difficult matchups. Wake has one of the best big men in the ACC in 6'9'' Devin Thomas and will also play 2 other 6'9'' kids. Looking at North Texas roster they will play quite a few 6'7''-6'8'' kids that are jrs/srs, including Bashir Ahmed's brother, Muhammad who is averaging close to 9&9 in 2 games. would be thrilled to somehow split these 2 games. 2 interesting games to follow tomorrow as far as our OOC. Wake vs Arkansas and North Texas vs Delaware St. I think all these road games are going to be difficult. That's ok lets find out what we have now. I'd rather be Mr. March than Mr. November. Agreed. While our big "3" are going to be three of the best players on the court for both teams TC still has to figure out the rest of the pieces. Looks like Casimir is a lock for the 4th starting spot. After that to be honest the 5th starter and first 3 off the bench is still being worked out. I would assume Dublin starts, but that is certainly not a given considering his lack of PT against Wofford. Amayo doesn't seem ready yet. Hines who I have been touting as the 5th starter all preseason, did not play well at all against Wofford. this season might be TC'S most difficult one yet in figuring out the right pieces to play on a game to game basis depending on matchups. Wofford is a good team and would compete well in the MAAC. would have been a difficult game whenever it was played. having it on ESPN2 on their marathon BB day turned it into an event on the Wofford campus which made the game even that much more difficult. time to move on, find a way to split these next 2 games. After an early look at some of the MAAC teams I still believe it will come down to Iona and Manhattan once again

I understand this team will attack the rim more than past teams to get to the free throw line, but more ball movement on the perimeter in the second half would have helped that and created more open looks from 3. To me the most disappointing statistic of the game was the number of assists at 9. I am sure Coach Cluess after the game highlighted the lack of ball movement to create space and open looks. Expected losing the rebound battle, but allowing as many offensive rebounds as they did was a problem. It will take time for our bench players to get comfortable and find their roles. In my opinion Kelvin Amayo is trying too hard and it is making him tentative and hurting his confidence. Hopefully he follows the example of his friend Isaiah and focus on defensive effort. Kelvin's development and ability to defend will be a key to the overall team success.

Not having another big set up cost us.

Late in the game the commentator mentioned that Amayo hurt his toe Friday night and also mentioned he stayed in the same hotel as the team, I guess that is how he was able to get such top secret knowledge such as an injury. This may explain amayo's poor performance.

Our problem seems to be the 14 minute mark of the second half. In the first game we were up 20 at that point and went down hill from there. Yesterday, we were tied at the 14 minute mark and fell back by about 18 points, before cutting the final to 13 . It's the DAMN 14 MINUTE MARK.

Rebounding and second chance points will prove to be the two most crucial stat lines in determining our success or mediocrity.

We lost to a NCAA tourny team. Ok. Let's move on. Our top 2 players went off. Once Amayo gets his games legs, forget it. Good times coming boys. This is a short bump

Lets have a reality check...... We are (1-1) 2 games into the season...It is possible that we will with MAAC Tournament play 32 more games...By all reasonable forecasts we will have anywhere between 7 and 10 more defeats...That is almost inevitable...There is a lot of basketball yet to be played...http://images.proboards.com/v5/bbcode/smiley.png I like most sport fans would like my team to win every game, but that especially in todays College Basketball is by all common sense impossible... We took a ass beating on the road by a very good hopped up team...It left a bad taste, but that being a avid sport fan comes with the territory, and I have certainly had my share...But...I am sure with this Iona team the 'The thrills of victory' will far outweigh the 'Agony of defeat'....
