Fordham friend called me last night and told me that if FU was in the MAAC they would be a tournament finalist. Only Manhattan stands in their way of a perfect MAAC season, and Iona better hope that FU doesn't downgrade to the MAAC. I did tell him to play some away games. His response was that away games don't affect defense, and the Rams know how to play defense.Well, Manhattan is our last hope to bring Fordham down to earth. I do think that FU plays pretty good defense and they held Robinson, who had 25 against us, to single digits. Desi returned, last night, played 30 minutes, shot 60% and scored 18 points as SPU defeated Princeton. St. Peters will be better with him in their lineup. LOL, they'd be first in the MAAC and last in the MEAC. Congrats to the Rams. They struggled to beat two MAAC teams at home.

Funny piece: www.onebidwonders.com/2014/12/15/obw-maac-power-rankings-v4/"Here’s something funny: for all the crap I give Iona’s defense, Siena’s has actually been worse. The Saints have turned opponents over 24 percent of the time, which is very good, but they’ve still allowed an adjusted 104.7 points per 100 possessions. Yikes! That’s the worst mark in the MAAC, even behind Iona’s 103.6 points per 100 possessions.
That terrible defense was at the forefront of Siena’s loss to Albany, which scored 1.26 points per trip despite turning the ball over on 26.2 percent of its possessions.
The Saints have lost three of their last four, and their thrashing of Quinnipiac is looking less and less impressive with every subsequent game the Bobcats have played." From the same article: "Player of the Week
Isaiah Williams, Jr., F, Iona
Williams had a pair of standout games in Iona’s two wins. The athletic forward averaged 21 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He converted nine of his 20 three-point attempts.
Rookie of the Week
Schadrac Casimir, G, Iona
Casimir has separated himself from the pack of MAAC rookies, turning in another pair of double-digit performances last week. The guard 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 turnovers per game in Iona’s two wins this week."

Three Questions for MAAC Schools:
1. Will Siena lose enough games in order to qualify for the Alphabet tournament, that they won last year? 2. Will we ever learn what is wrong with Manhattan's Jermaine Lawrence as he continues to play limited minutes, including four, last night? I guess a possible answer is that Manhattan plays a tougher schedule than Cincy. (SF) 3. As of mid-December, who is the SECOND BEST team in the MAAC?

Reference question #3. I've never seen Monmouth play, but judging by their loss to Fordham, even though in OT and on the road, we might be over-rating them, because they beat us. The problem is no other team jumps out at you. St. Peter's does look like they are on the rise, and FF has been a surprise. But gun to my head, I'll still go with Manhattan.

I think Mommouth is a good team. Very solid. Good size. I watched our game with them, they were very prepared, very amped up in their building and played really well. We played what I thought was the worst defensive effort we've put out all year and we still had a shot to be them in their place. I think if we show up and want revenge we beat them by 12-14 in Hines. In a normal MAAC year, I'd say they look like a good, solid 4th place team. But this appears to be a down year for the MAAC, so maybe they are second.
