Turn the page on Monmouth. No mercy against a decent (mid-pack) Rider team.

Iona needs to play fast and furious from start. Space the floor and attack the rim. Need good ball movement with lots of assists and low turnovers. Value each possession as the four turnovers in last 4 minutes vs Monmouth were killer. Put Rider away early and keep them down. Get the team back on track.

We're good simply because Iona05 started the thread. This is the real reason we didn't win the Monmouth game.

Don't want to be rider for this game.[/quote] Back to business........The next three games...2 of them home... Rider H Indiana State H George Mason A .....IMO we will favorite in all games. I.S. and G.M are not having good seasons... The finishing 3 OOC games will be......Florida G.C. H Drexel A UMASS A Again IMO We will be favorite in all but the UMASS game...Even though Florida G.C. is having a good season IMO we will be a slight favorite with the home court advantage...I don't see any problem with a weak Drexel...... Of course I would like to win them all, but would be satisfied with a 5-1 record which the schedule allows a reasonable chance...This would put us at 9-4 entering the major portion of the MAAC season... Even a 4-2 record leading to 8-5 would not be devastating... So lets leave Monmouth in the past and concentrate on the future beginning Wednesday night.....

greg, I'll rephrase the question. Where will Cam's butt be sitting? I'm sure he's in New Ro by now. (Smiley Face)

Much has been made of Coach Cluess not using his bench enough....
We started the season with 11 men....4 Of these men average at least 30 minutes a game, and 2 others average in the low 20 minutes a game...The remaining 5 led by Dublin average in the low below 10 minutes a game....
Bebis A freshman.....Lacks experience...In-mature body...Has played only overseas ball...Has a good future, but definitely not ready...
Robinson Never fully recovered from injuries...Can probably be used only at the center position for brief periods of time .....
Hines Had his chances...but he only exposes his lack of playing experience against a step above competition...Seems to watch game instead of fully participating...
Ellis Has the talent for street yard basketball, but seems to lack of understanding of team concept...Also had his chances...
Dublin Bit of a enigma...Less and less playing time for this one year man...Does not appear a discipline problem...Possibly a step to slow for Iona type basketball...
Where would Cluess find much help with this bench in a close basket for basket type game?.....
It was a for seeable problem that should have been addressed long ago in pre-season time...Now it has become a problem that will have to be addressed with careful control...
It is our Achilles heel.......

It is our Achilles heel....... Will give you Bebis and even Robinson as he missed most of last season due to injury. Ellis and Hines were with us last year. Scholarships are one-year renewable contracts. If Cluess felt these guys wouldn't pan out, he should have shown them the door. Dublin, I don't get. I don't think he's slow. The reason he doesn't fit Cluess' system is that he's a 4 that actually wants to play the low post. Outside of Glover Cluess has shown a disinterest in bringing in pure post players. They probably felt they could convert him to something like what Desouvre was. That's not happening, at least on the offensive end. But this kid will rebound and finish in close, something Laury still hasn't mastered. No, I'm not on the staff, and I don't see these kids at practice every day or know what's going on in their heads as well as the staff could. But you simply can't tell me that those 3 players in particular aren't capable of providing ANYTHING. We don't need much. But we need something. ANYTHING.

Sorry to tell you this but if Fordham wins tomorrow, they'll be tied for first with a 2-0 record. And then, I believe, only Manhattan stands in the way of an undefeated MAAC season for the Rams. At least the Jaspers get them away from the cozy confines of Rose Hill. The pressure builds.
