Gaels currently lead the nation in 3 pointers per game and second in made 3 Pointers, 8th in points per game, top 5 in 3 point percentage and have 3 players in top 50 in the country in 3 pointers made. Finally of course Aj leads the nation in scoring.
We could use this thread to monitor these statistics throughout the year, my hunch is we are going to have a historical 3 point year, proving wrong my original thought that we wouldn't be as good a 3 point shooting team as last year, but Right now we have arguably the best threesome of 3 ballers in the nation.

The NCAA Statistics as of December 15th are as follows. Team Scoring/game #6 - 86 pts/gm 3 pt fg/game #2 - 12.1/gm 3 pt fg% #4 - 43.3% Assists/game #11 - 17.9/gm Assist/TO Ratio #38 - 1.34
AJ English Scoring/game #1 - 24.4 pts/gm 3 pt fg/game #10 - 3.56/gm
Isaiah Williams 3 pt fg/game #13 - 3.44/gm
Schadrac Casimir FT% #14 - 92.6%
The current statistics are not surprising based upon the past several years with the exception of Casimir's FT%. Shadrac has been money at the free throw line. I predict that clutch free throw ability will be the difference in several games this year. Reminds me of Momo Jones with that ability. Hopefully they can reduce the turnovers at 13.3 TO's/gm as season progresses.

Right now we have the 6th (AJ) and 8th (DL) leading scorer in the nation at 21.1 and 21.0 ppg respectively. I think their averages are only going to go up with IW out. Wonder when the last time a team had two scorers in top 5? It could happen.
Also since IW has been out our team 3 point stats are plummetting but we are still near the top in all 3 point stats.

I'd rather see other guys' averages going up. Share the ball; trust your teammates!!! You're all in it together.

I think Amayo did very well in replacing IW. Outside of the bonehead charges and fouls, he gave us the scoring and defense we needed.
We need more from Casimir and Hines. Cluess won't use Dublin or Bebis much, as even a walk-on is taking their minutes. But Sed and Hines have to step up. Need Hines to be like an 8 and 7 type and Sed to be a 12 and 4 type, assuming Amayo gives us what he did yesterday.

The NCAA Statistics as of March 22nd are as follows. Team Scoring/game #7 - 79.5 pts/gm 3 pt fg/game #5 - 9.8/gm 3 pt fg% #13 - 39.6% Assists/game #8 - 16.4/gm Assist/TO Ratio #28 - 1.34 AJ English Scoring/game #13 - 20.1 pts/gm Assists/game #42 - 5.1/gm 3 pt fg/game #14 - 3.12/gm 3 pters #6 - 106 David Laury Scoring/game #17 - 19.8 pts/gm Rebounds/game #23 - 9.7/gm Double-Doubles #6 - 19 Schadrac Casimir FT% #10 - 89.5% Team statistics for past years can be viewed at stats.ncaa.org/team/index/12020?org_id=310&sport_year_ctl_id=12020 . During the Coach Cluess era the hallmarks of the team are among leaders in scoring, 3 pt shooting % and 3 pt's made/game, assists/game and assist/turnover ratio along with near bottom in scoring defense. Pretty telling how quickly Coach Cluess changed the character of the team by looking at the 2009-2010 stats. Not sure very many people would yearn for those days and that style of play. I wish the NCAA tracked possessions per game to quantify the tempo differences.

Would be interesting to see how many of the Sweet 16 teams have defenses ranked in, say, the top 50 as opposed to offenses.

Seven (7) teams in Top 50 Scoring Offense Kentucky #28 West Virginia #38 Notre Dame #13 UNC #14 Xavier #36 Arizona #19 Gonzaga #6 Duke #5
Interesting to note that West Virginia #165, Notre Dame #145, North Carolina State #142, UNC #237, Xavier #194 and UCLA #214 are all ranked 140 or higher for Scoring Defense. Iona #316 at 73.3 pts/game, Saint Peter's #34 at 60.2 and Manhattan #205 at 67.7 pts/game.

Manhattan under Coach Masiello has reputation for Defense, but they have ranked 2013-14 #173 (70.0 pts/gm); 2012-13 #32 (59.9 pts/gm); and 2011-12 #123 (65.6 pts/gm). Based upon these numbers not sure that is justified other than 2012-13 season. Without efficiency numbers it is hard to confirm. Saint Peter's under Coach Dunne has had more consistent Defensive ranking and numbers.

You have to use Pomeroy numbers. Offensive and defensive efficiency ratings. PPG doesn't tell you much because it doesn't factor in tempo or opponents.
