I would seriously doubt it, at this stage of the season.

Definitely never had 2 players averaging 20+ a game this late in year or both in top 20. Never had 4 players avg 15+ or more this late either, probably no one else in the country has either now and few ever have had 4+ avg 15 or more.

Weren't Burtt and Springer Sr. the top to scoring freshmen in their time? If I remember correctly Springer was the top scoring freshman in the nation. I don't recall where Burtt finished after his freshman year. I want to say he averaged about 12-14 per game.

Burtt Sr. averaged 13.6 that year.

I think by Senior year he was averaging about 24 ppg

Many of you are too young to remember a splashy Sports Illustrated photo spread of the top Freshmen College Basketball players. Magic Johnson was on the cover in formal attire, including a High Hat and Tails. And inside they had about eight or nine others with half or quarter page pictures, as I remember. And one of the 'best' was Jeff Ruland, who I believe was identified as the leading freshman scorer. Anyone else remember that issue?

More on David Laurey. Since his one game suspension, he's put up the following numbers: 1.Indiana State-30 points/11 rebounds/3 assists 2.George Mason-16 points/16 rebounds/3 assists/3 blocks/3 steals 3.FGCU-23 points/8 rebounds/3 assists/ 1 block 4.Drexel-17 points/10 rebounds/3 assists 5.UMASS-24 points/11 rebounds/3 assists/2 blocks/1 steal 6.Siena-24 points/10 rebounds/3 assists/3 steals 7.Quinnipiac-30 points/8 rebounds/1 block/1 steal 8.Canisius-25 points/10 points/1 assist/ 3 steals
Averages-23.6/10.5/2.375/.875blocks/1.375steals
IMO, DL is our best post player since Jeff Ruland. And for a mid-major we've had some very good ones over the years (Coleman/Hameed/Miller/Rodriguez/ Glover, and probably someone I've forgotten.

Yes and as good as AJ and IW are, DL is by far the most important player on this team.

I hung around for the post game interview with David Laury Saturday. David was unequivocal in his praise for his Coach. "I play for the best coach in the country, and I do what he tells me to do." (Think I have it reasonably close to what David said.) I have heard AJ express the same sentiments in an earlier interview this season. I hope Coach Grasso has all these clips on his iPhone as he circles the recruiting trails.
I agree with the sentiment expressed here, David's game is at a whole new level this season. He is quicker, and that jumper creates the "Oh s**t!" moment in the mind of the defender. I also notice that David puts the ball on the floor now with no intention of going to the hoop. He knows the scouting report says double DL, so he is looking for the second defender, and who he has left open. Bang - an open jumper. He is a complete team player.
