In the pregame interview, Coach talked about IW injuring his foot in practice. Sounded bad - he used phrases like "if and when he returns". Seems he injured it before Fairfield and played hurt in the game.

That would hurt us quite a bit. It sure would. Let's hope we get him healthy for February and March. IW is the glue guy for Iona. We'll need Dublin and Bebis to step up, and Hines and Amayo to really step up their play even more.

Who knows how long he'll be out, but it doesn't look good, based on the Buffalo story of the game. Not sure if he'll even be back for the tourney, but it's also possible he'll play at MSG. The life of an Iona fan, "We'll know when we know". Next Man Up!

With AJ's injury two year ago they said day to day and final admitted weeks later he was out for the year, I hope this isn't the case, but based on that comment I would be surprised to see him until maybe late February. If so we are no longer one of the nations best 3 point shooting teams, and winning the regular season will be a challenge.

A big opportunity for Bebis. If nothing else, he'll let the coaches know whether he'll be able to contribute, next year. At the GC reception, after the FF game, coaches spoke highly of Bebis. And I'm guessing that they knew IW would be out for a while, when discussing VB. My feeling is that there is one poster on this Board who has a feel for how long IW will be out, and he's probably not at liberty to say/post.

IW, if you're reading this, thanks for the tremendous contribution you make to this team and wish you a full and speedy recovery.

Ditto. It will be interesting to see how Cluess handles the loss of IW. We're obviously built to outscore our competition, especially in the MAAC. And losing IW means, in addition to losing all the leadership and intangibles he brings, losing about 14ppg. Do we insert some one or a couple of guys and play at the same tempo, over 70 possessions, and try to out score teams? Or do we slow it down a bit, play about 63 possessions, and emphasize defense and rebounding more and try to win in a more balanced fashion. Either way we go adversity brings opportunity. I told this to my son when he broke his arm playing soccer this year. When bad things happen, look for an unexpected opportunity. As a result he was able to get Landon Donovan, the best American soccer player ever, to sign his sling at a game in Hartford. Probably wouldn't have gotten his attention if he wasn't hurt.

Read IW's last tweet, doesn't sound like someone who expects to be back this year. " never cried so much since my grandmother died, I love basketball so much, never played like it was my last game, lesson learned." Why can't iona just be honest and tell his status. How does it help to not announce the extent of his injury?

Keep an eye on what's going on and keep your teammates focused. Believe it or not, stuff like this can make you a better basketball player if you seize the opportunities presented.
