It sounds like Rider's Lopez has a torn ACL and is done. Not certain of the quality of the report.
Rider is one game up on Manhattan and Monmouth. However, Rider swept Manhattan, and Manhattan still has to play at our place, so it does not appear Rider will slip all the way to 4th (which would be an easier game of course). So, if the brackets are chalk, we would have to go through both Manhattan AND Monmouth for the title.
Looking at individual schedules, Rider is at Monmouth and home for Marist--should go 1-1. Manhattan is at our place and hosts Quinny--also should go 1-1. Monmouth hosts Rider and Siena, so they should go 2-0 and take over second. Rider would still be 3rd on the basis of sweeping Manhattan, and Manhattan would be 4th. Canisius is locked into 5th.

I hate hearing Lopez maybe gone with ACL. Heartbreaking for him as tried to finish his college career helping Rider win. Tough loss for Rider. I always like everyone to be healthy going into Tournament games as they earned their seed and brackets typically play to form. Do not want someone benefiting from someone's loss of personnel making their path in the MAAC Tournament easier.

SLG = wise a--. How do you press if Laury is bringing the ball up? Just put a smaller player on him and turn him over. It happened in the Manhattan game more than once. You don't have to press to turn someone over. Plus I thought it distracted him and tired him out. You don't beat Iona by using full court pressure either. They have excellent guards and you make it easier to press if your bigger players are bringing the ball up court. You don't have to be to smart, SLG, to realize that the best way to avoid turnovers in the backcourt, is to have your best ballhandlers bring the ball up and have your taller players finishing on the other end. Of course the reason Cluess is doing this is so he can recruit skilled big men. You don't win over 20 games a year unless you know what you are doing. What I was saying was I don't give him points over Glover for doing this. But it is an advantage if a big can handle because there ARE some other situations where it IS beneficial. Lets just say that Glover was a little tougher under the hoop and DL has better perimeter skills. If I had to choose between them, I would give a slight edge to Glove. Thats all.

Hynes should unofficially be "the Casbah" I was at those shows! Opened for the Who. Students dressed like Sheiks, wearing Iona t-shirts, yelling rock the casbah! National Trend for sure. Viral.

This may sound crazy but would it bad if Iona lost one of these last 2 games. They might find that urgency to play a full 40 minutes and not let up. Also it would take a little pressure off them going into MAAC tournament with a 12 games win streak and needing 3 more to get into the NCAA's. That would be a 15 game win streak heading into the 1st round game I think the media might start to pay attention as well.

In my opinion a loss at this point in the season is not a good thing. Better to continue winning as there will be pressure no matter what in the MAAC Tournament as the #1 seed. I fully expect after what happened against Manhattan in the MAAC Finals last year this team will be ready and motivated. Coaching staff and returning players know what is needed and now they just have to execute. Keeping my fingers crossed about the return of Isaiah Williams. When he does he will provide an emotional lift and that energy spark needed this time of year. GO GAELS! Get it done.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using proboards I don't believe anyone on the team believes that they can't lose. It won't kill the team to lose but I hope they win to keep confident. It's not like they are blowing most teams out. Let's get IW in the flow and win the next 5.
