Siena got the home court advantage the old fashion way. They bought it. I just hope they don't lose to Niagara, and then we have to play a team on a five game winning streak. (SF)

Just curious. What other (if any) mid major conferences in the country have an identical format to the MAAC tourney? i.e. entire tourney is played on "true" home court of random team regardless of seed.

Trying to find a comp for the MAAC format. Don't think the BE is a fair one. BE is the 2nd ranked conference in the country.

Agree. The point is the fan base/travel thing. Big East schools have large enough fan bases that their fans can travel to another team's "home venue" and still make an impact.

When the BE was really the big BE, and the games were played at MSG, Syracuse had a big advantage.

In the pre 2014 BET their wasn't that much of an advantage to any team because the tickets got spread out among the 16 teams. Cuse had an advantage if they went far because they had the biggest alumni base in NYC area (aside from SJU, who in recent years, has rarely gone far). But most of the teams had big alumni bases here, yet it rarely mattered because the tickets got spread out. Stubhub, I guess, changed that somewhat, but not by as much as you would think. But you will see, if SJU goes far this year, Tau's analogy will be largely correct because there will be a lot of tickets out there. There will be an inordinately large home court advantage for St.John's.

More than a month after the TC 'article' appeared in the NY Times, UCONN Women's coach, Geno Auriemma, speaks out on the Men's game and pretty much echoes what Tim was saying. At some point people, who are not Iona fans, will give credit to TC for leading the call for change. And please don't continue to bring up Paul Westhead, for while his team put up crazy numbers, he never (as far as I know) called for others to follow suit.

Here was his quote from a 1987 LA Times article, "We tire our opponents through our extremely fast paced offense. I do not want other teams to follow suit."
