Looks for a surge by Marist which has the academics and facilities to make a run here....

I think that ichoops means that they have an indoor bb court and classrooms. And when they get a bb team they can make a run. And I guess the run will take place in the gym. Is that correct, 'hoops?

ichoops, can you name: 1. The decent/improving players that are returning for Marist. 2. Notable recruits.
Or is your opinion based on the the law of averages? (SF)

(SF) Hoopy is disappointed with this year's results and when he's disappointed he acts out against Iona and the board, like a 4 year old throwing a tantrum.

I like to think of second place as "first loser". So yes I'm disgusted by the turn of events

Definitely, more than a four year old. I'd say six year old, but I'm afraid my six year old granddaughter will read it, and I'll be in big trouble.

Siena takes another hit. C Javion Ogunyemi has announced he is going to transfer. One of the most improved players in the MAAC this past season. That's 4 transfers this season alone, with a couple more possible. Patsos has that program upside down

Back to BB, boys. My look at next year's Gaels is a plus/minus look. We know the losses, and I think that we can replace Dublin, who was a solid, if under used, forward off the bench. How we handle the loss of DL will probably tip the scale between better or worse for the team. Taylor Bessick is a solid player who can play. But while the inside presence of DL opened up (and made them better) the perimeter for our o/s shooters, the opposite will have to be the case for our success, this year ('15-16). And while I'm hoping, I think the odds of us landing the next Glover/Laurey are looooooong. But perhaps ichoops can sell his soul to the devil and one will arrive in New Ro. hoops, take one for the team. Of all the other returnees, and it seems that most years there is a surprise loss or addition, so who knows. Kelvin Amayo is my hope to win the Most Improved award for the upcoming season, and being able to work during the offseason will help. An objective look at the other MAAC teams tell me that Monmouth will be loaded and that Manhattan will be tough to beat if we meet them in the Finals. The only thing I'm sure about is that our roster will change, a lot, between now and October 15th, if history is any indication. But if our coaching staff remains intact we'll, once again, be good.

Any chance the MAAC adds NJIT in the near future? I just watched them lose at Northern Arizona in the semifinals of the CIT. The young Highlanders led much of the way, but faltered in the end to a senior-laden Lumberjacks team. Jim Engles is doing an amazing job there, and could very well be Metropolitan Area Coach of the Year when that award is announced. I like the way his team plays, and feel he can coach with anyone in the current MAAC. A good coach and guy, and a hard worker. Can you imagine having to schedule your team's entire slate of games as the nation's only independent Division I program? Meanwhile, the school is demonstrating its commitment to Division I basketball by starting construction on a $100 million arena (3,500 seats) this fall. They're certainly more committed to basketball than some current MAAC schools. NJIT, and Engles, are clearly going places. No Met Area program made greater strides this year than they did. It's a true feel-good story.

Agree, they're showing more commitment than some MAAC schools. As for them in the MAAC, I'd only want them if someone was leaving... we need the flexibility to schedule additional ooc games not less.

What if you added NJIT and then split the MAAC into the following two divisions: "North Division" with Canisius, Niagara, Marist, Siena, Fairfield and Quinnipiac and "South Division" with Iona, Manhattan, st. Peter's, Rider, Monmouth and NJIT. The league breakdown is balanced in terms of setting up pairs of schools as "travel buddies". You play a home-and-home with the five teams in your Division (10 games) and one game against the other Division (6 games). If you want 18 Conference games then you can alternate playing a home-and-home with two opposing Division teams. The Tournament would be the toughest obstacle. Not sure if you would want to have the Division winners host through the Semifinals and go to a neutral court for the Championship or let the best record host. The problem is that you split your Tournament into two spots. Back in the days of the MAAC Hockey League, teams played at home sites until the final four teams were set and then they went to a neutral site. All I ask is that you be gentle when you pick apart this plan.

tootsie, not a bad plan, and, imo, not much to pick apart.

Pretty sure Ensor's been quoted that NJIT isn't a fit for the MAAC.
