Lavin was on his way out last year, surprised he made it another year. He was not liked by the administration or $ alumni. I was at the Duke/SJU Iona doubleheader and was told he was gone at the end of the year no matter what They must have decided some time after that, Tau, to bring in Mullin. All of the the sudden out of the clear blue sky they elect him to their Hall of Fame. That is why they never reached out to anyone else. Did they do their due diligence? I have to question that. I suspect the booster that said "this is a Hail Mary" was Mike Repole. He of the Vitaminwater fortune. I think he was part of the new guard alumni that wanted an aggressive young coach. Are you asking a question here?

My understanding is Matt Abdelmassih was Mullins first announced hire, but his first hire was Barry Rohrssen, I guess we'll find out Tuesday! If so, good move, and he'll get players there!

Twitter and the NY papers have become unreadable. You would think Mullin is the reincarnation of John Wooden.

This is a rhetorical question. It's a way of saying "I don't think they did their due diligence".

If I'm wrong about Mullin, I'll be the happiest person in the world. He won the press conference, now can he win the Big East? I hope he can get McDonalds AA game MVP, Diallo. It's funny, I saw the scrimmage but not the game. I didn't think he looked that good in the scrimmage. Then I was shocked to learn that he was named MVP in the game. It's hard for big men to do well in All Star games. So maybe he has big talent. I hope we get him. But years of subpar St.John's basketball may have made me unduly pessimistic.

Rysheed Jordan ineligible for first semester. The stink of Lavin still resonates

Somehow I have a apparition of Louie's sweater roaming the hallways of St. John's and pulling occasional strings.....

I heard awhile back that Mullin wasn't coming if the AD was retained. The new President is showing who is in charge

Tomorrow St chicken hosts 15 potential recruits, and in even more exciting news Zach Braziller of the ny post is expected to propose to Christopher Mullin, what a beautiful day it will be and what a beautiful couple! A little disappointed that the eventual honeymoon may limit the number of hourly tweets on the cardinal shower.

As I show my disgust for St chicken I would like to bring up a game rarely talked about on this board, it probably ranks as big of a win and as great of a game for the Iona program as the Louisville game, it's the ecac metro championship victory over st chicken at Nassau coliseum. Although only a 10 year old at the time I remember the incredible joy that game gave the Iona community. It was truly a special day that was lessened afterwards due to the loss to penn in the NCAA's and the success of a St chicken getting to the elite eight that year.
