Could this affect SJU's chances of being selected for an At Large bid? Just seeding. Probably an 11-12 now

He put St. John's back on the map as a tourney team. St. John's is projected to be a 7 seed in and he recruits a top class consistently. Why would he get canned, he's in the tourney. Plain and simple. You make it to the tourney out of the big east conference you are not getting canned. Shouldn't even be a thread. They're playing in March Lavin has one more year left on his deal. St. John's has two choices: fire him and start anew or go all-in and give him an extension. Considering they have new President, SJU might just decide to wipe the slate clean rather than commit to Lavin for some of the reasons that have been posted on the board over the past year or so (no Big East Tourny wins, bad press with players coming and going etc.)

Why were they booted? Failed drug test like Chris Okekpa? If true I find it hard for Lavin to remain as head coach. I would think that the St. Johns position, if it becomes open, is not an attractive job for any high profile candidates with the cupboard ready to be empty going into next year. In my opinion it will be a major rebuild project. Too bad Larry Brown is not available as he would bring instant credibility.

No news on it on twitter? Not yet. And Roger Rubin told me to "watch it" lol. SJU policy is 2nd failed drug test results in 2 week suspension. Just so happens, suspensions are for 2 weeks.....hmm

Roger Rubin's twitter twitter.com/RogRubin certainly hints at something coming about other players on St. Johns. What are they waiting for? Walk-ons to volunteer to fill empty seats on the bench? University to craft a press release that the positive drug tests were a result of accidentally eating too many Poppy Seed bagels? Ooops! Sorry I mean Colorado Mountain High Brownies. If true, it all is pretty crazy.
