Fordham will get what it deserves. Until there is a major re-evaluation of what their long-term goals are for the basketball program Fordham will have a hard time attracting a high profile coach and having consistent success. Maybe they belong in the A-10 or the Patriot League is a better fit. The long-term lack of success should be an indicator that their current philosophy has not worked. In my opinion just changing the Head Coach will not dramatically turn the program around, because they will not hire that type of individual who would like to use transfers and JUCO's to jump start the rebuild. If they by some miracle find a dynamic young coach who turns the program I bet he is gone with the first opportunity to move up. Fordham needs to define what their goals are and then determine how they accomplish those goals, then search for a Head Coach. Until then Andy Toole, Bobby Hurley (No Way), Kyle Smith and Will Brown should stay far away. They have high academic standards. Give them credit. It's obviously more difficult to find the right.

Academic standards are not what has been holding Fordham basketball down. Academics are an excuse.

Fordham is a fine school. In the wrong conference with the facilities as they are, but a fine school. Hoopy why the self-loathing? Things will turn around. We're all disappointed by the end of the season. I think Fordham gets a bad wrap here and is bashed often. From an academic standpoint it's clearly a superior institution than Iona as is St. Johns. Half of your statement about academic standing was correct. The part about St. John's is dead wrong. St. John's has more programs and more students than Iona, I'll give you that, but from an academic standpoint their approach is quantity, not quality.

ichoops, my point is that Fordham has to have a defined vision/plan for their program and then determine whether that is achievable with their current support, conference affiliation or they need to make changes. If changes are needed then take formal steps to address them. It is only fair to have this vision clearly laid out for the candidates for the Head Coach position so they understand what is expected, what support they will have and how much time to meet goals. With that knowledge the coaching candidates can then layout how they would accomplish those goals. I never took a job without clearly understanding my responsibilities and performance goals to insure I was not potentially setup to fail. Fordham needs to give their Coach the tools to succeed.

Can't see Brown taking the Fordham job. Several years ago he was offered the Bonnies job and turned it down. Bonnies is a better job the Fordham. Brown used the offer from Bonnies to get more $ out of Albany.

"With the right coach Fordham has a great opportunity ahead." How about the other variables? With the right players Fordham has a great opportunity ahead. With the right support from the administration Fordham has a great opportunity ahead. With the right schedule Fordham has a great opportunity ahead. With the right conference affliation Fordham has a great opportunity ahead. How far out is that great opportunity? 2 years? 5 years? 20 years? We all have potential great opportunities until we do not. A coaching change is not going to correct the current situation at Fordham. Look at the recent history. BIG changes need to occur, unless the definition of success is winning more than you lose.
