I have the hope with the coaching changes sanity will return to N.Y.Metro basketball...It has gone from one of the nations top basketball areas to one of mediocre stature...This was brought about by controlling area coaches vanity and their reluctance to risk embarrassing defeats...With this demeanor gone were the great rivalries past and the beginning of the downfall of area college basketball... This hope is damper by the fact that remnants and connections remain and these must be abolished.... I longer fervently for the pageantry of old rivalries and the roar of the faithful... I also for fear of being called an old curmudgeon the abolishment of the time out and half time entertainment of a couple of 5-6 year olds dribbling along with a couple of cheer leaders until their pants drop...Value long since past...Innovation badly needed not only here, but with area basketball....... Fire away...

I don't get that halftime thing where the contestants pants are falling down. Why would anyone want to watch that. I also think that they could reduce the timeouts by one or two. As it is, there are four media timeouts per half and then each coach has five more, and then I think there is that 30 second thing each coach has in addition to that. It's too many. Maybe they could reduce them somewhat. There's also those video reviews in the closing minutes. Yikes!!!

If you don't use a time out in the first half you lose it.

]complains about 5 and 6 yr olds, sad not a happy man[/quote]1970. 1970...After trying to read some of your posts which are almost unreadable I decided not to respond as I would only encourage your 2nd grade retorts...I asked my one of daughters who graduated from Iona to try to interpret ...She laughed in disbelief and said ''I hope he is not a Iona product''... The mere fact that you brought into my use of 2 youngsters for descriptive purposes and stretch that to complaining about them shows your desperation... I will continue my attempt to not responding to your juvenile posting, but I will reserve my right to respond in kind...

Oldtimer... keep up the posting. Honesty and reality are sometimes confused with negativity.
I've long since stopped worrying about what posters think of my brilliance particularly because I've realized they a mutants or farm animals.
Anyway you have "The Authority's" thumbs up on your post.

Reksonn...Some good suggestions...I read somewhere that game time has increased 10-20 minutes in recent years...
As to pants falling down...The kids wear oversize athletic pants which despite cheerleaders help keep slipping downward impeding their movements...The fact you had question this comedy reflects the now lack of its attraction...

OT, you were talking about the kids' pants falling down? Thank goodness. I thought you meant the cheerleaders. (SF)

I've had my share of disagreements with you OT, but I'm with you on this. In fact I am a proud curmudgeon when it comes to all the artificial crap that goes on during games. It's even worse in pro arenas. Funny thing is that the Atlanta Falcons just got fined and a suspension due to piping artificial noise into their stadium. Meanwhile, every building in the NBA (And I am a Cavs season ticket holder) is a non-stop assault on the ears. Every time they send me one of their surveys "We care what you think" - I rant and complain about the three ring circus. Hard to tell who is actually into the basketball. Of course I admit I must be in a tiny minority - they don't even bother to reply. Having said that, like IC59 I am still waiting for the pants falling down on a cheerleader. THAT I would like to see!

Old man u critize alot but get your panties in a bunch when something is written towards you. You act like you are better than everbody and criticize everything. How did i twist your words, you complained about little kids getting a chance to dribble and shoot on the court during a timeout, maybe it will give them a memory of Iona and want to come back again. When you go to a game don't watch it it is that simple, just look at the person next to you and complain about how life was better a 100 years ago.

LOL. I remember that classic NL cover. The kid with glasses in the stands with his jaw dropped is priceless.
