The MAAC schedule has become drab, boring and to long. 20 games is probably among most conference games played...IMO it needs to be reduced to 15 games, leaving 5 games to be used to renew and introduce natural area rivalries... It has been many years since these type games were taken over by self interest coaches and college basketball warlords....They have controlled long enough...It is time for area teams to engage each other and Metro basketball rid itself of these petit divides and teams like St. John's, Stony Brook, Army, Hofstra, Princeton, Rutgers, Seton Hall, UCONN etc. along with, Iona, Manhattan, St. Peter's etc. play each other and once again NYC basketball becomes of interest...

I agree! I would also include Columbia, Wagner and Fordham in the mix also.

I'd rather play guarantee games against high majors.

Mid major locals I would want to play would be St Francis and Hofstra, mostly for personal reasons. But as Guy said, give me the bigs

[I'd rather play guarantee games against high majors.[/quote] Guy A 15 game MAAC conference schedule would actually increase the opportunities to meet high majors.... It would open up room for 5 more other then MAAC games...This does not necessary mean that they would be played against area competition, but if a extra chance to meet a high major came along, room can be found... Of course as the meetings against ''High Majors'' increase those 25 win seasons are a thing of the past unless we front end our schedule with patsies as St. John's does and go 11-1 then finish with barely 500% and still make the NCAA...

I read somewhere that we can only schedule 9 ooc unless you enter a tournament then the number can be 11. Don't know if it's true, but those road games against bigs eg. Syracuse Kansas umass Dayton northern Iowa Marshall just get us fancy road losses with no return game in new ro. I would rather do home/home against some beatable locals

I assure you all that Cluess agrees with my take on this.
I'd rather play at Kansas than host St Francis Brooklyn.

I really don't care about playing teams like the St. Francis', Fordham's or Wagner's of the world. Let's schedule the best teams we can. Those three shouldn't be considered.

Guarantee games vs Major programs any day vs mid major programs. Helps with recruiting also. Iona needs to be tested and RPI benefit. Kansas vs St Francis? It is a no-brainer, KANSAS every time. I have faith that Coach Cluess will schedule what is best for program.

Host St Francis=win. @ Kansas = loss Lose at Kansas = RPI goes up and Iona gets paid. Win at home vs SFNY = RPI goes down and nobody goes to game anyway. Cluess agrees with me, BTW.
