I'm thinking courtesy visit I do not think either party has the time for a courtesy visit at this point. He has been to Iona on multiple occasions and is familiar with the staff so I assume he is considering us... how much needs to be determined. Just say a prayer the kid picks the best situation for himself and his family. To me he is not just a normal recruit as he has Iona connections and I see him as an extended member of the Iona family already. I want to see him succeed. If he feels he can do that here, close to family, in the media capital of the world, in a place where his talents will be showcased....wonderful. If he feels he needs to play on a bigger stage, or have access to better facilities... that is great as well. He has the potential for a great future... I hope he makes the decision that is right for him longterm. While we think of the recruits as making a four year decision, in reality they are making 40 year decisions. Right on the money 86. I hope the next school is the right fit for him. I would love to see him at Iona and I think his game would benefit hugely from playing for Cluess, but at the end of the day he needs to feel comfortable. One thing is for certain, Iona would embrace him.

If Chukwu were to come our way, the elation should be tempered by a realistic look.... He has not a lot of experience with the higher caliber basketball played in this country... He averaged just over a disappointing 2 points and 2 rebounds a game in his freshman year... Is he is a step to slow for Iona speed type offense and either he or Iona would have to adjust which would be extremely difficult... We have established our reputation as extremely fast paced team that will get off it offensive shot in a minimum amount of time...It has and will always be Coach Cluess style...Will Chukwu and his playing style demands change that tempo... In every sport, there are players that are a fit for certain teams... Are we and Chukwu compatible?

OT with fair points.
On the flip side, he would dramatically change our defense.

Keep in mind that by sitting out this year, he'll be stronger when he plays next season. And no matter where he goes, he'll get to practice with the team for a year. It's a plus, plus for him.

I will take my chances that we could figure out how to use a guy that Kansas and Virginia would like to have

The reason the visit to Iona College maybe unofficial is due to one of the following from the NCAA Compliance: A student-athlete attending a four-year institution may not be provided an official visit until he/she has received permission to contact from their original institution. Or it maybe due to the fact he is limited to five (5) official visits that are financed in whole or part by the institution. Since a visit to Iona will not involve any real travel expenses it would be wise use an unofficial visit which are not restricted. I do not feel Providence and Ed Cooley would restrict his contacting Iona by not granting permission. Will be interesting to see how long the process takes.

From goodman's updated list. Top ten available transfers.
5. Pascal Chukwu, Providence -- His numbers certainly weren’t gaudy last season (averaging 2.6 points and 2.4 rebounds) but Chukwu is 7-foot-2, has plenty of potential and still has three years of eligibility remaining. After sitting out a year to develop, Chukwu could be a major impact player.
Considering: Kansas, Nebraska, Iona, Michigan State, Virginia
