Has the Nation's sport world been influenced by its soft belly policies? While reading the sport pages this morning was once again overwhelmed by the injuries suffered... Every little injury becomes a 2 month or more lay off...With the progress in the medical world are we being over diagnosed....Tommy John surgeries have become routine even though pitchers rarely are allowed to go more then 7 innings...The Mets are a prime example...They have lost numerous games with ''Pitch count'' substitutions...The odds are now heavy that every collision or hard slide will end up in a 2 month hiatus... There was a time that players played through these difficulties...The St. Louis 'Gas house gang' looked like the walking wounded when they took the field, Yet they won and ran just as hard....Pitchers played up to 20 years and now are lucky to make 10...There was no such thing as a 'Pitch Count' and you will probably never see a pitcher go extra innings again...and soon 9 innings will be extremely rare... To some, particular those of the younger group this is good natural progression...To others of the past world this is a ''Give In'' to hardships that must be overcome that made this country great.......

Should be on the "Off Topic Discussion" board--probably under the Obama thread.

[Should be on the "Off Topic Discussion" board--probably under the Obama thread. [/quote] Super......You are right...Did not think it through...However you could not resist the Obama connection however removed from intention...I am aware how that thread irritates, but it becomes more relevant and revealing each day...... I won't be around, but history will expose a shocking story....

'Fooled' 'While our Nation slept... 'The Waiting for the check to come in years' 'Can the Nation's press ever be trusted again' 'Betrayed' Read them all, give a thought and remember the Oldtimer... Aside.....Very impressed by films of Alise Johnson also...His frame has room to grow...Hopefully we will have a raw boned 6-8 strong rebounding forward...I am looking forward to a interesting season...No longer have the aprox. 300 yards to Hynes...Now a little to far for wheel chair ride...Lining up son-in laws, grand children friends to assist...

OT I think the reason a lot of these players are treated with "Kid Gloves" these days is that they are worth millions of dollars. In the pre-Curt Flood world of MLB players were chattel and the financial investment in a player by a ball club much less. Didn't Connie Mack charge his players to launder their uniforms? It was a different business model.
