Over the weekend, my brother and lifelong pal passed away at the Kingsbridge Vet. Hospital in the Bronx from injuries he suffered in a auto accident while on his way to play golf in Florida... He was also a US Marine...a Police Officer for a couple of years, then transferred to the Fire Dept. where he spent 35 years...He was also a long time member of Pelham Country Club...We married about the same time and purchased large duplex home where we lived side by side for over 40 years and raised 5 daughters and 1 son, in complete harmony...As per agreement, he being the handy man took care of the inside and I the outside yard... Over the years we met while called to emergencies of every type, and I never ceased to be amazed by his valor...He was a big man with the strength of an ox but a gentile giant until aroused... Just a little Golf story till we meet again....... St. PETER and GOD were playing the 1st hole...God teed off...His ball going out of bounds struck a bird in flight fell into a greenside lake struck a turtles back, bounced struck a rake and rolled onto the green into the hole... St. Peter not amused yelled ''Come on, you going to stop fooling around, or are you going to play golf'' Goodbye Nick...,Till we meet again where I'll give you 2 strokes a side...

Condolences, OT. I lost three friends in the last year. I met a fellow who was on the other side and came back. Those who care for us will be waiting. Of this I have no doubt.

Sincere thanks to all.............. Yesterday there was a parting gathering at a funeral home for my pal....Fittingly there was one of the largest turnouts I have ever seen in our local area.....Police and Fire vehicles lined the streets...The Funeral home was jammed packed...Honor guards stood at attention from the Marine Corp., the Fire Dept. and Police Dept... Tributes were given by many who knew him...There were many that traveled hundreds of miles who I has not seen in years...Nick in his grump but friendly way would have said ''What the hell is going on'' Has per his last request his body will be cremated, and ashes scattered over a place he loved Pelham Country Club...If you happen to be in its vicinity and vision a ghostly figure and his dog walking its fairways as night begins to fall,....It will be Nick....
