Slow day...In looking over conference and RPI ratings I found that the MAAC conference had probably one of the largest RPI difference between the conference top team and its closest contender...It varied between aprox. 50 and 75 RPI points... There appears little chance those figures will change this season....It is a tribute to hard work and ability of Coach Cluess and his staff...This gap has been accomplished despite a OOC schedule that is a cut above the rest of MAAC teams... We will be odds on MAAC favorites again this year...

Agree in principle, but I am a believer in Monmouth, and the Hawks have scheduled fairly well this year. Even if we are around 60 again, I expect Monmouth to be in the top 100 as well.

Guy, totally agree. Don't know about RPI numbers, but the Hawks will be very good.

Don't know about RPI numbers, but the Hawks will be very good.[/quote] Top 144 is down to number 90...Canisius at 114 the only MAAC team so far...Unless a surprise MAAC team is selected very soon, there is little chance there will be one... As to Monmouth.....They do have 2 6-11 centers, but neither have shown much in the past 2 years...The next tallest player at 6-8 also has shown little but average ability...They had a slightly disappointing season last year...They will be well coached, and contend for the MAAC's 2nd spot, but IMO not quite ready to be described as 'Very Good' If as its beginning to look like the MAAC will have only 2 of its 11 teams in the top 144, look no further for the MAAC's overall drop in conference ratings........

OT, I will be shocked if Monmouth does not still show up in these top 144 rankings. They have some very good small forwards. Their PG Robinson may very well be the best in the MAAC, depending on whether you call AJ a PG or not. They also have an impact transfer in Hornbeak, along with a couple of very good freshmen recruits. In my opinion they are clearly the 2nd best team in the MAAC, followed by Rider and Canisius.

Agree. Monmouth should make this poll. I'd expect them soon.
The Maac is a lock to improve on last year--yes, I realize that's not saying much. Likely won't hit typical high-level marks for the league in RPI (13-14) but I can see 16-17 range.

Sharkey, is Hornbeak the transfer from Oklahoma? At the MAAC quarterfinals, I was sitting with a man whose son was sitting out as a red-shirt at Monmouth, and was giving us (Iona fans) a rundown on the Hawks. He was raving about the transfer from Oklahoma, not his son, and said their future was bright. The team really likes their coach, King Rice.

While reading the Monmouth board observed that after last season back in May the team went on a 2 week trip to China...It appears to have been a wonderful experience...They played 4 games at packed houses...2 of the games were against Pro China teams and they managed to win 3 out of the 4 games.....
The trip must have cost a small fortune...That and the new facilities lead one to believe they are blessed with a loaded benefactor...
What is our status as far as a out of country trip?...

Playing Manhattan in the Bronx and St. Peters in JC.

Good post OT. Would expect the MAAC to shake out somewhat like this:
1. Iona (17-3) 2. Monmouth (14-6) 3. Manhattan (13-7) 4. Siena (11-9) 5. Rider (11-9) 6. Quinnipiac (10-10) 7. Marist (7-13) 8. Canisius (6-14) 9. Fairfied (6-14) 10. Saint Peter's (5-15) 11. Niagara (4-16)
