Glad we didn't win that recruiting battle.

Massiello knows that the refs let a lot go at the end of the year, and he coaches accordingly. Smart, I guess, because it works.

I can't see Lawrence ever suiting up for the Jaspers. What a waste

Other than Iona, all MAAC teams play today. And according to the MAAC board, only SPU, who host Brown (2 1/2 points) is a favorite. Vegas aside, I expect an improved MAAC to win three or four games.

Great start for the MAAC tonight... they'll go 0-9.

Yes, I'm one who was touting league improvement, and one game does not a season make, but, well, I may be wrong. Can't be losing to Sacred Heart, Brown, etc.

To make matters worse, I have to listen to Doris Burke repeatedly mentioning during the Siena/Duke game how well Siena should do in "their league".

I doubt she can name any other teams in our league, other than Iona.

I think the MAAC did pretty well, winning two games, as only two teams (Marist and SPU) had home games. SPU won and Marist lost by three. I've agreed with Guy and others who said that the League would be improved, this year, and still do. Consider Monmouth's win at PP a shot across Iona's bow, as to which team is the Top Dog. Now the Hawks have to go against USC, tonight. What makes Monmouth's win noteworthy is that they shot 24% from three and were out rebounded, 37-60. Other games: *Thought that Siena showed poise in their game, and were not intimidated by the Crazies. Duke made the same mistake as Iona seems to do when we play the Saints, and that is forgetting that Lavon Long is a lefty. And that's another reason why I'm looking forward to EJ Crawford. Siena seems solid at all positions, with the exception of OG. If Clareth or Oliver improve they should be tough. They do have a problem on defense. Duke scored 92 points, shooting 24% from three. And they had open looks. Also think that Siena should have tried playing at a slower pace. But if I were a Siena fan, I'd feel pretty good about the team. *Guys I knew nothing about, did well. Malcolm McMillan, a senior transfer at Canisius, had 33 points. Anton Portley a 6'4 frosh at SPU had 30 points, and Matt Scott, soph at Niagara, had 19 and eight boards. *Quinny lost by 12 and shot 14-33 from the foul line. Other bad news was FF not having a single double figure scorer. *Rider stayed with Princeton for the most part. And that's a team that reportedly handled Iona in a scrimmage.
Bottom line, imo, the League did pretty well.
